Linkin Park
I don't know anything about them, but I bought their CD. Can't remember the CD title, but one of the songs is "In the End", or something like that. Is it any good?
You may be wondering why I would buy the album if I am unfamiliar with Linkin Park. It was an elderly Chinese fellow selling them on the street and I felt guilty that he took all of the CDs out of his suitcase to show me, so I felt a bit obligated to buy something. Most of his other stuff was R&B crap, so I bought Linkin Park. It was only $5.

Don't listen to these guys. I have the cd and like it. I suggest that you listen for yourself and form your own opinion.

I hate Linkin Park--- Angry pop boy band IMO. But I agree with Wormwood. Listen to it for yourself, someone has to like it. I mean if everyone had the same taste in Linkin Park as I and others on this board, then they wouldn't be so popular would they? Listen to their hits first... In The End, Crawling and another one I can't think of right now.

i think that they successfully combine rap, anger, heavyness. I think that in todays world of music, they are lyrically quite good. Most folks don't give them a chance, and write them off. They also have a very talented DJ. I love the song called "points of authority"
with everything in the world, you like it or you don't some will and some won't.

Why solicit opinions on the sound of the album? Just turn on any cookie-cutter "alternative" station these days and wait 15 minutes. You're bound to hear one of these criminally over-played angst-anthems by then.

I find Linkin Park to be particularly refreshing because although they may have a little angst, I don't see the hate and the negativity that pervades so much other hardcore and rapcore artists. Plus, they (like their superiors P.O.D.) show that you can put out a great album with awesome tracks without the need to resort to mindless profanity and garbage -- ie. Hed PE (those guys make me ill), Limp Bizkit, etc., etc.
I also like the combo of rapping and singing, and they put on a really great live show.

I just bought the Linkin Park DVD which has all of their videos, some live footage, 2 songs not released on the album and a really funny version of Crawling by a country band (can't remember the name). I like the DVD and the 2 unreleased songs are both very good. I think if you join their fanclub off their website for like $25, they send you a special edition of Hybrid Theory with these 2 songs and a t-shirt among other stuff.
