I'm getting ready to place my first order with blackstar and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could look at a list of dvds that are only available in the UK (or region 2 altogether)? Also, does anyone know when Momento will be available for purchase there? I had heard that it was for rental there now.

Thanks for any info,
talespinner

Memento won't be out in the UK until October, thanks to some studios insane policy of pursuing rental windows in the UK. Here are some UK discs I have that aren't exclusive, exactly, but better in terms of specs than their American counterparts:

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY (2 disc)
THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT
HOLY SMOKE
SUMMER OF SAM
THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH
ERIN BROCKOVICH (isolated score)
HAPPY GILMORE (anamorphic widescreen)
ROBIN HOOD PRINCE OF THIEVES (dual-layer)
EYES WIDE SHUT (as Kubrick intended)

You can add to a list of Region 2 exclusive DVDs,

"Friends" Season Box Sets
Jungle 2 Jungle

Also The Straight Story has a premiere press conference on the Region 2 disc, but is absolutely feature-less (with the exception of a trailer) in Region 1.

These are R2 exclusives:

8 Heads in a Duffel Bag
Beautiful Thing
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels: Director's Cut
Mad Cows
Orgazmo
St. Elmo's Fire

... that's just off the top of my head.

A bit off the topic, but would anyone be interested in helping me gather up a list of Non-region 1 exclusives (be it R2, R3, R4...) for a DVDTalk reference thread? I know there are some sites that offer this information, but I think a lot of our members might benefit from it. I know I would.

Should it only be US movies or all titles be in that tread?, It will then be quite long, with 200-300 french movies, and just think about Indian and Hong Kong releases.

I could help you with movies only released here in Denmark (not many).

There is a thread in DVD International with almost the same subject http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=107711

I'd be glad to offer the info I've gathered. I just recently upgraded dozens of nonanamorphic R1 DVDs for nice 16X9 versions from Australia, France, and the U.K.

What improvement does the UK version of BWP have?

Well, an interview with the directors and a psychiatrist on the effect of horror movies. Nothing major.

Cynthia,

Here's a good link I found in another forum:

http://www.davisdvd.com/News/Regiona...ernational.htm

I think I saw another link somewhere else that I'll try to post later.
