Finally caught a showing of the movie over the weekend.

As others have said, it wasn't nearly as bad as I've heard people say it is. Though out of the three Mummy movies, it is my least favorite. Which I'm sort of surprised by seeing as I thought the inclusion of Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh would make it an instant hit with me.

The action/CGI scenes were fun, but everything else just seemed sort of "meh" and wasted. I didn't like "grown-up" Alex, though I didn't mind the replacement of Weisz (though she was sorely missed).

The biggest surprise for me was seeing Anthony Wong first appear on screen. I hadn't read anything about the movie and had only seen the trailer to hype myself up for this film. Definitely a rad surprise

So, I finally watched this movie. I watched the original Mummy in theaters and liked it enough, but never caught any of the sequels. So, this was the recent completion of the Mummy series for me, having watched Mummy Returns, Scorpion King, and this one over the past week.

I actually liked this one quite a bit more than the other sequels. I really liked the China setting/theme. And yeah, unfortunately, Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li weren't used as much as they could have been, and the actor for the son was pretty bad. But it had good action, the CGI held up for the most part, and just in general, it was a fun adventure with some good set pieces. What more can you ask for from a popcorn movie?

My wife thought Bello had better chemistry with Fraser than Weisz. I don't necessarily agree, but I didn't think it brought the picture down any.

I enjoyed The Mummy Returns up until they enter the Scorpion King's temple, but everything after that just infuriates me, especially the stupid ending and the atrocious scorpion CGI, and basically ruined the rest of the movie. The CGI in general in that movie is also not up to par. The Scorpion King movie felt like a waste of time to me. Very generic and uncompelling. So for me, Mummy 3 was definitely more entertaining than the other sequels.

Rumor was that they ran out of money towards the end (thru various script changes and reshoots) and got stuck with the 'skeleton' crew of 3rd stringers from ILM. Pearl Harbor, Potter and JPIII took up their labor force.
