MLB 2K6 is going to the the only game this year (and for the next few with major league rosters and teams as they bought exclusive rights.
Its a decent game. MVP has better gameplay in many's opinion, hence why they are still playing MVP 2005.
Conversely, you can get MVP NCAA 2006 if you don't mind having college teams instead of pro.

PureSim Baseball 2007
I'd say give PureSim Baseball 2007 a shot - it's a baseball sim - I love playing the game with fictional players rather than real players...you never know what's going to happen! - here's the PureSim Baseball forum - great game!

I am a huge fan of MVP NCAA 2006. I love EA's other NCCA titles (Football, March Madness), and this is no different for me. Most fun I have had with a baseball console game since original Ken Griffey on SNES.

Get the PC version and you can download the MVP '06 mod that fans made. It fixes bugs, updates uniforms, rosters, stadiums, portraits and some other things.

The MLB deal has nothing to do with High Heat. Microsoft can make a baseball game any time they want.
Microsoft just bought High Heat to prevent anybody else from getting it, effectively eliminating one of the competitors to their fledgling Inside Pitch series. Of course, then MS decided to get out of sports, so consumers had to suffer the death of both franchises.
Thanks a lot, MS.

Microsoft can put out a baseball game with REAL players. 2K sports has a monopoly on THIRD PARTY baseball games....thus, EA is screwed.
Look what Playstation did with MLB 06
I wish MS would get back into sports....MLB 2K6 is ok, but a bit glitchy....MS could've really monopolized this year.

High Heat series was my favorite up until the 2K2 edition then things started to go down hill. The 2K4 edition was the worst, imo. They went to a console style interface for the PC version and ditched the in depth stat tracking. Of course, at that time, 3DO was going through alot of financial problems and both HH2K4 and Heroes of Might & Magic IV were rushed out the door, bugs and all.
I had hope when MS bought the rights to the High Heat series a couple years back but then right after that they ditched their sports games. So, why spend the money to purchase the rights to it? Sad.
I played HH2K2 up until 2004 and then got MVP '04 and it quickly became my favorite. Now the MVP series is gone.....what the hell is going on?!! Looks like I'll be playing MVP '05 until something comes along that tops it. I've played MLB '06 for the PS2 and it is a solid baseball game but it still doesn't top the gameplay offered in the MVP series.
