I'm not only talking about the console, but games as well. I figure that the XBox and Gamecube will force the console prices down this summer, but with the continued shortage they aren't coming down until then.
Man, I put off buying a Dreamcast last fall because of worries about it's staying power and I want to get the PS2 now. But $300 for the system and $50 for each game kind of sucks right now. I've only seen a few games like Gun Griffon Blaze and Billiards  for less than $40. When do people expect the older PS2 games to start dropping in price? |
rumor is that the japanese system is dropping in price within a month of it's one year anniversary. the price drop is equivalent to $100 US. I can see the US system dropping in price about the same time, in order to compete with the XBox and Game cube.

Yeah, I don't think we'll see a US PS2 price drop until later in the summer at the earliest. I think GC and X-Box will definitely force a price drop. As for game price dropping, I don't know...I'd doubt we'd see anything because Sony's already losing money selling the hardware. I think the software prices will stay where they are so that money can be made there.
Of course, you could buy a Dreamcast--there's lots of great games out there for it that are very, very cheap. |
I'm guessing September for the console, probably a $100 drop. As for games, probably now that a lot of them are being relaeased there's be a few that will drop to $25, but those will only be the crappy games.
