one of my weird hobbies over the last couple months has been watching PS2 auctions and their gradual decline in price. It was funny, I decided to look at a whole bunch of closed auctions and much to my chagrine some of them had ended for less than $300. Man, too bad for all those little capitalists I counted three on this page....

Yes, I would definitly say that the "shortage" problems and media created hype are dying down. Just last week I was able to go into a BestBuy on thurs. (5 days into their PS2 sale) and there was nearly 20 on the shelf. (Of guaranteed 20, mre could have been there though.)
I think you see alot of people going the way of the dreamcast. Can't beat the price or the games. Kind of interesting how a "dead" system could hurt the sales of the machine that everyone was so crazy over.
