You can take this meaning the most violent for it's time as well as the most violent ever

IC_Freeze 02-24-01 12:00 PM

thrill kill was banned by Sony, it might be on one of the top 5 most violent. Nothing's violent to me though :) I've seen it all.

Kaiser Soze 02-24-01 04:00 PM

I would have to say that the Resident Evil games are all pretty violent. Silent Hill is pretty violent in parts too. Silent Hill is by far the scariest game ever though.

Thrill Kill would have been the only game ever to have recieved a AO rating if it had been released here. Soldier of Fortune, although I have never played it, has to be up there in the top 2 or 3 of most violent games ever.

I've played game with a lot more violence than thrill kill... that game was just way crappy and sub-par

darkside 02-24-01 04:44 PM

I played Thrill Kill and I don't know if I would say the worst ever, but it does have some gruesome scenes. Many of the first person shooters might qualify just for the total number of things killed. Also, I think EA killed Thrill Kill and not Sony. Once they aquired everything from Virgin Interactive they immediately stopped Thrill Kill. I don't think EA wants to be associated with those sorts of games.

Hetz 02-24-01 04:58 PM

My vote is for Solider Of Fortune. It is more violent than Thrill Kill and much more realistic.

I don't understand why Thrill Kill would get an AO and Soldier of Fortune only gets a M. I guess it is because SoF is a PC Game and they figure not as many kids will play it.

Does anyone remember Custer's Last Stand? It was put out by some obscure company around 1982 for the Atari 2600 game system. What made it so violent was that you played Colonel Custer and you scored points by...raping Indian women. It was a verycontroversial game and the first X-rated one made for the system. Atari was so furious about it that they sued the company. The head of the company remarked that he was inspired by the game because he was in the adult video business and noted that his son played a lot of games on the Atari 2600, which was a very popular thing back then. So decided to combine both elements.

I remember the game making the news and also being reported in some magazines as well. The art work for it was something to behold. It featured an illustration of an Indian woman (or rather, Native American woman) looking very seductive (not unlike a Vargas girl) and a cartoon drawing of Custer drooling. I never saw the game itself, only screen shots, but the typical Atari 2600 graphics almost made it seem like some indiscreet game.

Original Desmond 02-24-01 06:36 PM

i got a copy of Thrill Kill from Malaysia and whilst it is violent, i think it's the overall feel of the game for a child which got it banned not the blood spilled.

it does have a twisted serial killer feel to it

Tuan Jim 02-24-01 11:59 PM

Well Carmageddon was pretty bloody and somewhat controversial when it came out. You get points for running over people -- splatter bonus -- especially kids and old ladies. Also SOF, which has some nice effects. The new Wasteland HL mod is putting some new effects together as well, and they're doing a pretty good job overall. http://www.wastelandhalflife.com

I remember a segacd game that was banned in some places but that might just have been for the nudity. Night Stalker or something, where the swat team investigates the house with cut up sorority corpses hanging around.

i have some more in the back of my mind, but I can't think of any of them right now.

I would have to agree. Carmageddon 3 (TDR2000) is still as bloody as it ever was. This is one of my favorite games. Another that I didn't see mentioned was Grand Theft Auto. It isn't too bad graphically, but the premise of walking down the street with a flame-thrower and setting people on fire, then watching them run away until they die is gruesom. This is another favorite of mine.

I don't remember it. But it sounds like we have a winner!:(

broadwayblue 02-25-01 01:39 AM

The game was called Custer's Revenge.
Mystique's three releases (Custer's Revenge, Bachelor Party, Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em) all contained adult material.

I can't wait for Grand Theft Auto 3...too bad it won't be out until September.

I don't know, Mortal Kombat 2 for Sega was pretty bad for it's time (and still is now?). Ripping out spines and stuff for the Fatality Moves was pretty bad..

Chiller wins (hands down)

I remember playing Chiller in arcades back in the 80s. That has to be the most violent game ever. For those who don't remember it, you had a gun (like Crossbow) and you shot at a screen where people were chained up, put on racks, in stocks and/or buried up to their necks. You had to shoot various parts of the equipment or the people. When you shot them, they became bloody and their interior bones and body parts became exposed. The big thing on the last board was to shoot the shirt and bra off of a chick who was buried up to her waste in a graveyard. I think it came out for the 8-bit Nintendo, too. The graphics weren't that great, but that was one f'd-up game. It was pretty fun, though. I'd love to have that as a standup in my basement.

That Custer game looks pretty slick, though. I'm going to have to try to get ahold of that. Time to pull out the 2600.

Jackskeleton 02-25-01 12:57 PM

OOooh i remember splater house!

Damn that one was a classic. i used to play Splatter house non stop as a kid.. could that even be remotely considered healthy?

I saw some screen shots last month for Silent Hill 2 on PSX2 and it looks super scary. I can't wait for this to come out. Anyone know a release date?

notoriousaurus 02-25-01 05:45 PM

I thought the game was Postal for the PC where you killed people at random, even when they come out of chuch and they had sound clips like "OH GOD, MY EYES! NOT MY EYES!" and crazy shite like that
