Has anyone experienced this problem with the PS2 shutting down during gameplay and can only be started back up by unplugging it or flipping the switch in back or the console? During gameplay the PS2 will lock up and the power light will flash red and green. It happened to me yesterday but so far not today. Just hoping I didn't get a lemon. BTW I was playing NBA Live maybe that can help.

I've had no such problems with my PS2.

Nope, don't have that problem. You probably have a defective system. Time to exchange it.

I don't know if this helps, but I had the exact same problem with my sony dvd player-DVP-S530(it has the same type of power button). I tried everything and ended up having to take it back and get another one.

did it happen only this one time or everytime you play for awhile?
do you have it in a well ventilated place. maybe it was too hot? all complicated electronics should be kept in a ventilated place to prevent heat related problems.

maybe you are so good at the game it cheated

it could be defective- if this happened only once then i would wait to see if it happens again.
