[B]These are the arcade games I grew up on. Just a few of my favorites. 720 - The most awesome skate-boarding game ever http://www.klov.com/screens/0/w720_Degrees.png 720 Rocked! My favorite of all time! Wish I still had access to the actual arcade version. |
720 was awesome!

Speaking of Paperboy, there was a nice little in-joke. When you crashed into those two thugs and knocked them down (you would also lose a guy as a result), he would mutter, "Body blow! Body blow! Uppercut! Uppercut!"
Most of the arcade games I loved are from the early '80s: Star Wars, Battle Zone, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Tron. I remember when Space Invaders began the video game craze in 1980, toppling pinball, which gave way to the Pac-Man craze the following year, then Donkey Kong the year after that. They used don't make games like they used to! |
Some great picks there, DTSC. My dad used to play Marble Madness - one of the few video games he liked, which says something for that game.
Also gotta add Tetris, Arkanoid, and APB to that list, just to name a few. Ironically, I've just been downloading quite a few of these games on MAME the past week or so, getting ready to put them on a disc this week. :D Such good memories. BTW, DTSC, is that a pic of Hard Drivin' or Race Drivin'? Thanks. |
What about PITFIGHTER? It's not as old as some of the games posted in this thread though. But I can remember being a kid and playing it.
|
Do any of you guys use MAME? I got that just so I could pass that damn devil with the spear in DD without blowing my allowance!!!!!

Greatest arcade game ever was the FIRST holographic video game ever made from Sega. It was called 'TIME TRAVLER'. Anyone remember that classic? You played a cowboy. If an indian killed you then some dumbass wizard would pop up on the screen and bring you back to life.
Strider: another incredible arcade game! http://www.geocities.com/travthx/strider_hiryusword.gif |

I check the page daily (as with Arcade@Home and Vintage Gaming) and I have the complete ROM set on one of my computers. It's around 3GB now, iirc, but DAMN is it worth it... 2,800 or so unique arcade games on my computer... how can you beat that?! - David Stein |

Hey, I've tried MAME but never could get it to work. Maybe we need a separate MAME thread for people that successfully utilize it.
