I am a sucker for the Yoshi games. They are so visual stunning to me that I have to play them just for that.

This game looks gorgeous.

I popped the trailer into the text thread that my boys and I have (they are 28, 22, and 17), and my oldest returned this GIF that had me rolling...

If you know, you know. :)

It really appears to be targeted at a young audience, doesn't it?

This looks fantastic. One of my most anticipated games of the year. I've a big fan of the recent Yoshi titles and this looks to be right in line with those.

Very positive reviews. 80 on Metacritc.

Lowest review so far is a 6.0 from IGN.
Video review not up yet.

Apparently Yoshi and the Mysterious Book used Unreal Engine 5 as it's game engine???

And Yoshi's Wolly World used UE 4??

That's crazy to me. Absolutely shocking news to me. I've never known Nintendo to use UE as their game engine for anything. It's old news. But still surprising to hear.

I saw a review that said it looked amazing and one that basically said it looked like ass in handheld mode. You don’t normally see that disparity of opinion about game performance on a single console in professional reviews.

Good-Feel developed those, and not being a Nintendo-owned studio, I guess they have more leeway.

Nintendo is working on a fix for a game-breaking bug found in the game:

Seems appropriate in a game designed around investigating strange new creatures, Nintendo is now forced to investigate a strange new game crashing bug.

I watched and read several reviews in while it's a game that looks like it could be fun.It also looked too kiddie for my tastes. IGN especially convince me to pass.

Other then the artstyle which looks similar to pretty much every Yoshi game there is nothing kiddy about this game at all. It's a puzzle platformer where finding a few discoveries for each creature is pretty easy but finding a lot of them is pretty challenging and I will probably need a guide if I was going to 100% it.

It's a side-scrolling platformer in the Mario-verse, I'll probably pick it up down the road.

I just hit the end credits after chapter 6 with 586 stars, although my understanding is that there are 6 more chapters after this. :p So, plenty more to look forward to (although I don’t think there’s a universe where I’d 100% it).

My take is the same as The Questyen’s. It’s cute, colorful, and is much more interested in encouraging experimentation and exploration rather than fail states. It’s extremely kid-friendly but doesn’t feel to me like it’s pandering to the junior set or brain dead or anything.

Okay. It just sounds more like a toy than a game, but I haven't played it.

Thinking of this as a Mario platformer where they just made it that you can't die is not what this is. I think the part where you can't die is throwing people off. You can't die in The Witness either because that game is about solving puzzles and exploration not fighting enemies. This game is more closely related to The Witness then a Super Mario Bros platformer.

I'm a super fan of the Yoshi games, SNES Yoshi's Island, N64 Yoshi's Story, and onward with Wooly World and Crafted World. I don't own a Switch 2 yet, but this game may tip me over to getting one especially with the upcoming price increase. I'm looking at the $499 choose your game bundle, and getting the Donkey Kong game.

^ That's the best of the three games offered, IMO

I just hit the chapter 6 end credits and it added 4 more chapters but it looks like 2 more open up postgame so yeah 12 total. I've got about as many stars as you do but it looks like there are over 2200 stars in the game so we haven't even gotten half of the ones in the first 6 chapters.
