HALO: Remake
We're less than a month away from the next Halo game reveal, so we shouldn't be too surprised that there are loads of Halo remake rumors floating around right now! The latest report suggests that we will indeed be getting a remake of the first game in the franchise, and that it's coming from a studio that co-developed the excellent Mass Effect: Legendary Edition remasters.
A new detail revealed by these new reports is that Abstraction Virtuos Studios will be co-developing the game alongside Microsoft's Halo Studios. Virtuos' name has been bandied around a lot lately, especially with two major 2025 releases — The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater — coming from the main Virtuos teams.
The Abstraction team, based in The Netherlands, has built its name working on other projects, with the studio having co-developed Mass Effect: Legendary Edition alongside primary developer BioWare. This also wouldn't be the first time Abstraction has worked on the Halo franchise, as the developer reportedly did some work on additional features for Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2021.
Beyond the developer, we've learned recently that the Halo 1 remake will reportedly use a "hybrid engine similar to this year’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered," and that's about the height of it for now. The Halo World Championships will reveal all on Friday, October 24, 2025, and Phil Spencer already confirmed the next Halo will launch alongside Forza Horizon 6 and Gears of Wear: E-Day in 2026.

Halo: Campaign Evolved – Answering the Big Questions About This Ambitious Remake

What New Elements are Halo Studios Adding to the Original?
In Halo: Campaign Evolved, you’ll be able to wield nine additional iconic weapons from across the Halo series inside the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle and Needle Rifle, giving you more ways to approach every encounter.“Some of the weapons we’re bringing in could be used against you in Halo: Combat Evolved by the enemy, but you weren’t able to pick them up yourself.” Szlagor says. “Now, you can, and it feels natural because of how you can do that in other Halo games, it reflects the evolution of the series.”
Players can also look forward to two firsts for the campaign — you can now hijack vehicles and even pilot the Covenant Wraith tank for the first time in Halo: Combat Evolved.
For challenge seekers, Halo Studios is also featuring the most Skulls ever in a Halo campaign, for even more ways to modify the campaign experience.
And perhaps most exciting, the team has added three brand-new prequel missions set before the events of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, which introduce entirely new environments, characters and enemies, which we’ll find out more about very soon.
Oh – and you can sprint now, if you’d like, or disable it if you don’t.

So no multiplayer right now besides co-op campaign? I wonder how much it's going to be. I know it's a full on remake but only for the campaign? Is that enough to charge full price $60-70?

I recite entire episodes. Verbatim. You’re embarrassing yourself. All I watch is Seinfeld. All early morning on tvland (from 2am to 4am. Except Monday's are special bc it goes till 5 which is perfect bc I turn to news at 4:30) and ch. 11 at 11pm est. I recite verbatim. No way you know more. None whatsoever.
But, seriously it’s true.

Re: HALO: Remake
Halo: Remake thread turning into a Seinfeld measuring contest is almost as surprising as Halo on PS.

Re: HALO: Remake
I was thinking what a sad state the franchise is in when there's more discussion about Seinfeld than Halo.
