What is the longest consecutive gaming session you had?

i think yesterday, i played a game so good and so well made and beautiful that i lost track of time. The game...The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild. I played roughly 4-5 hours in one session. First time for me. Of course, that stamina indicator i could do without. Might happen again today, not sure yet. I know many more of you have had longer sessions, but this was a first for me.

So, what's the longest consecutive session you've had with a particular game?

Over 10 hours easily, multiple times, playing Major Mud which was basically WOW without graphics.

Also have had multiple magic the gathering games go 3-4 hours and sessions that ran 5+ hours.

It was a great game and I had little to no commitments at the time. It’s also the reason I avoided other MMOs until I dipped my toe into playing WOW a few years ago. Luckily I didn’t connect to WOW anywhere close to how I did Major Mud.

Have also had several Vegas poker sessions last over 10 hours.

Was on BBSes mostly in the late 90s/early 2000s. You can still find boards to play on but a text based game is a tough sell to new players so it’s pretty dead and has been since around when Everquest came out,

I don’t really keep track. Especially in my single days, it wasn’t uncommon for me to start playing a game in the afternoon and stopping at 4 or 5 AM. (I remember finishing Infamous: Second Son that way.) That’s only happened a handful of times in the past decade or so, but weirdly, I can’t point to a specific example off the top of my head. I know I’ve indulged in very lengthy marathons, but specifics elude me. 4-5 hours straight would for me not be anything unusual, though.

I remember when Serious Sam came out for the PC... this was back when lan parties were still a thing. There were about 15 of us playing it for at least 12 hours straight. We ran thru several times bumping the difficulty up. It was a blast.

I played many games at home straight thru and easily went 10 hrs+ to finish.

As kids growing up in the late 80s Nintendo days, my buddies and I would rent a game every weekend and stay up all night until we finished it. We're talking 8-10 stretches (or longer) passing the controller around, playing sections of games we had an expertise in... wonderful memories!

In the modern era, I've had some 8-10 hour sessions playing Super Mario Odyssey, Horizon (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West), Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Breath of the Wild, Spider-Man, and Spiderman - Miles Morales... among others.

Most of my sessions are 3-4 hours at a time. I played Jedi: Fallen Order for 6 hours yesterday... and will put in another session today.

(... and yes, I do count snack and pee breaks.)

Back in the day, I used to load up my five-CD carousel and play Civilization. When the last CD ended, I knew I had been playing for five or six hours.

I wrote here last year about my friends and I staying up to play Rampage on the NES at a sleepover when we were kids. It didn't go well.

I didn't time it or anything, but I've spent all-nighters on the very first GTA as well as Fallout 3 and/or New Vegas. So easily over 10 hours. Don't think I could pull that off again, though.

I did it to impress the ladies.

When Dead Rising came out you had to play 24 in game hours to get the mega man gun in survival mode. I think it translates to like 18 real life hours. That was kinda fun.

I’ve also done the group play run through of the Quarry twice that was at least 13 hours each.

Probably 5-10 hours when I used to play WoW in my 20’s.

I don't remember when I was younger. Nothing that extreme though. Recent times I've definitely put in LONG play sessions in for BotW. You just get totally lost in that game. But I don't think any of them were over 5 hours or at least not much over 5 hours.

Expect many more long play sessions on BotW OldBoy!

Re: What is the longest consecutive gaming session you had?

^ put in another 4 hours yesterday. It's just so much fun and things to do. I'm on my 4th shrine on the Great Plateau just to get that damn paraglider. boy, could use that. but, i also love the challenge of how to get around and to pins or spots on the map. just oozes fun. i didn't even know you could chop trees down. I've doing that a lot to get the apples for sustenance.

those of you that have done 10+ hour sessions (and multiple times), i think is amazing!

Like 20 hours? Every 2 years a new expansion for FF14 comes out. When those drop I log in at go-live around 6am and don’t stop till late into the night. A little different though, since that is also very social with other people playing.

As a kid, I would often spend a full weekend day playing a RPG from breakfast to dinner.

At least 10+ hours, possibly more.

My wife and I have played a two player game called Kingdom Two Crowns since before the pandemic and I’m sure there were sessions during the “lockdown” that started on a Saturday afternoon and went into the wee hours of Sunday.

Now bear in mind that we would pause the game to eat and use the bathroom but it was a single campaign that we were playing.

I don't remember how long it took, but my buddy and I played the campaign from the first Halo from start to finish in one sitting. I just remember we finished at like 3:30 in the morning.
