Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (9/24/24: PS, Xbox, Switch, PC)

"An epic adventure returns! Together with Disney Games, we are thrilled to announce the remake of an iconic game: Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed! Join Mickey Mouse on his magical quest and get ready to wield the power of paint and thinner once again. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch."

As a big Disney fan hoping they are able to iron out the issues from the original Wii version and glad this is going to be available on PS5.

How is this game as a platformer? Mario-esque?

I was excited about this one until they said platformer. One off the wish list.

I never played the original. The trailer reminds me of Mario Sunshine.

Just got a notification of a free demo on Steam! Downloading. May check your friendly neighborhood console/handheld to see if there's a demo available.

I'm not into platformers but it's Disney it may be easier so I'll give it a spin to see if it stays in my wishlist. Definitely will be waiting for a sale on this one, not because I expect it to be bad, but it's not to the level of day one purchase.

Edit: Yep, not for me, off the wishlist.

It may seem like I discard games quickly but I just really know what I like or not, and sometimes just a couple of minutes suffice. Full on platformer, I hate platformers. (I was not familiar with the franchise before this game).

the bit I played was excellent. looks gorgeous and plays like a typical platformer. reminds me of Crash Bandicoot how Mickey spins with his brush to topple enemies. pretty fun so far.

I played through the demo. Meh. It’s quite pretty (I wouldn’t call it gorgeous), but it’s so dated in gameplay. Sluggish, constant nagging unnecessary instructions, like Zelda Ocarina of Time. Gameplay is nothing like Crash (not a bad thing, Crash is hard AF); it’s clearly very inspired by Super Mario Sunshine, which I’m okay with, but isn’t very clever in its implantation — you can tell exactly what you need to paint or thin to advance every time. I guess it’s designed for young kids, but are they going to be nostalgic for this game when there are Kingdom Hearts and Disney Illusion Island they could play instead. This game feels so dated : Sluggish camera, simple combat…. The grunting instead of spoken dialog? In a remaster? Come on. And they want $59.99 for this game. And as OB said about the Until Dawn remaster,

Played 5 hours or so and really enjoying it. Definitely has the feel of an old-school 3D platformer but the fixes they made it to the controls and camera are a godsend. It looks great and as a Disney fan is right up my alley. I didn't expect it to have a "choice system" but it's implemented really well and in a few spots so far has given me multiple ways to solve a mission which is neat.

I never played the original. Maybe when this is $20 I might bite.

Wrapped it up today and it stayed consistently great all the way to the end. Loved the Mickey/Oswald interactions and the Disneyland easter eggs. One of the better remakes of a game I've played.
