Not a huge fan of 2D Mario. Maybe when there’s a sale. My son really wants it though.

Mario Galaxy 2 was the last 3D Mario that I truly loved, so I've really dug the 2D games in that time.

I loved Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. Mario Odyssey is okay, but it's not flowing well with me, and my method of playing these games (collect as much as I can before going to the next level/world) doesn't seem to work with this game, it keeps telling me that I've only collected half of what is available and no amount of wandering around seems to find any hidden items. I prefer the Yoshi game more.

I loved Odyssey, but I liked New SMB a ton as well. Really looking forward to this. I'll be out of town so this gets my (limited) weekend gaming attention over Spider-Man 2, by default.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (10/20/23: Nintendo Switch)

Bought the digital version
I played 5 levels. My first impressions, love the music, the wonder flower add a nice touch to each level, non-skippleable cut scenes, ( was hoping it would have none of those)
Spoiler:
,the singing Pirana plants

are hilarious.

Got this as my 2nd digital coupon game, Super Mario Acid Trip would be an apt alt title.

Really fun game so far.

Few levels in, already GOTY for me, easily.

I ended up picking it up and itís been great. Definitely not GOTY but itís definitely right up there with the best Mario games.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (10/20/23: Nintendo Switch)

Grabbed it last night. Signed up for a Target RedCard recently and had a $40 off coupon to use. So got the game for like $20.

My wife and I are playing on co-op and itís a fun time so far. Love the singing flowers and Pirhana Plants. The game definitely has a unique feel to it with the levels. Fun to use the elephant ability.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (10/20/23: Nintendo Switch)

I'm in the 3rd world area and it's fantastic so far. I'm playing it the way I usually play Mario games where I play through the levels and I'll get all the collectibles I can along the way but if I miss some I don't replay them to get 100% until I've completed the game. Over on Kotaku they had an article saying that before you start the game you should turn off the flower voices because they are annoying. WTF! Those flower voices are some of the coolest things in the game.

It isn't Kotaku without trivial complaints.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (10/20/23: Nintendo Switch)

The game gets better the more you play it, even when going back to the earlier levels.

And I thought this little tidbit was pretty wild...

Super Mario Bros. (1985) was made by a team of five people, *38 years ago*. Of those five people, four of them worked on Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Hah, nostalgia hit me hard on the Flying Battleship stage - weirdly more so than the ones in NSMB.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (10/20/23: Nintendo Switch)

Just beat the main game. But obviously still tons more to do. Not really a spoiler but I'll put it anyways.
Spoiler:
When you beat the game you get 1 medal but there are still 5 more to get so I assume 100% on levels, beat secret world, etc.
