Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

I watched a couple of previews for this today and decided to make a thread for it since I couldn't find one. I'm generally more of a fan of turn-based RPGs, but this looks great.

I havent finished a final fantasy game since 7. I might try and see if I can do that with this one.

The director of FF14 lead this one as well. I would buy it day 1 anyway but the fact that Yoshi P is director makes this a "take a few days off from work to play" status for me. To say I'm excited would be a major understatement.

Same, and I actually own all of them (except for the MMO's) and I haven't started any of them beyond 8, lol.

Looks like it could be fun. Hopefully the eventual reviews reflect that.

I probably own some of them as well. I haven't even come close to finishing any of them after 7.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

XII was the last decent single player entry and I'd say X was the last somewhat memorable one. XIII and XV were not good.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

Base 13 was pretty bad but I had a lot of fun with 13-2. Otherwise, I agree. 12 was amazing IMO. 10 was the last that felt like a classic FF game.

I loved XIII, but I'm not big time FF guy. It's actually the only FF I have ever finished.

I really loved FFXV even with all its faults. I am looking forward to this even though the first trailer was terrible.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

I confirmed my time off for this launch. IIRC, first time I've taken off work for a game launch since Skyrim 10+ years ago.

Just knock me out until late June, please.

I've been tempted to do that twice (Bloodborne and Elden Ring, after I started them mind you) but never went through with it. I'll have to see how this turns out

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

This was not on my radar, then I tried the demo.
Damn, I did not need another game to play!
(or rather, to buy and not play because my back-log is so huge)

Re: Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 6/22/23

Reviews should be out soon? Happy to hear it's not open world. 15 suffered from it with the horrible side quests.

I'm avoiding the demo cause I don't need another $70 game I'll not have enough time for

Not even going to bother with the demo, I am sold after everything I have seen and heard. This will pull me away from Diablo.

I have this coming via GameFly "Unlocked," so hopefully I will have beaten Diablo 4 campaign by then.

I want this but I’m too heavily invested in Diablo 4 at the moment. I will definitely get it later though…

Doesn't matter much at this point since it's just a couple days away but the demo is the first section and your save will carry over to the game. It's not gameplay you would end up playing again at launch.

So might as well just wait until the game comes out to play it. Unless their is some sort of bonus for doing it I never play demos of games I'm going to buy. Don't see the point of playing the first 2 hours of a game a few weeks early and then wait to play the rest when it comes out. Might as well play it all at once.

The bonus is seeing why I added a to my post about the demo earlier than Thursday!
