Nope, though that would be nice. I think the game unlocks around 8pm EST on the 31st (assuming you bought Premium one way or another) if that helps at all. I might have the hour wrong…

those are made by entirely different studios under the Bethesda umbrella, but not by the Bethesda studio that makes Fallout and Elder Scrolls.
Starfield is the first major single player game from them since Skyrim. Not sure if Elder Scrolls Online counts… GaaS are an entirely different beast.

If I see the Bethesda logo that’s good enough for me.

I think Fallout 4 came after Skyrim?

haha yeah, you’re right. I had them backwards. Fallout 4 was 2015… eight years ago!

Just gonna tune out all the "controversies" coming out. Called off work so I can play all Friday and Saturday 🙂

Haven't been this excited for a game since Fallout 4 lol

Re: STARFIELD: Xbox Series X/S and PC -2023

What controversy? The one where you can’t walk more than 30 minutes in one direction before having to move your ship? Some people are so picky. I’d have loved to walk for 30 mins in one direction in Fallout or Skyrim. As long as there’s stuff to see and find I’m a happy camper.

That being the case I’m guessing we will see a couple of 7/10’s and a couple 3/5’s. I don’t think it’s gonna get the 10’s that BG3 got but I think we might see an 8. Maybe a 9.

I hope I’m wrong and I don’t care if I’m not. I’m still looking forward to playing tomorrow night.

Re: STARFIELD: Xbox Series X/S and PC -2023

I think I may go halfways and get the premium Gamepass upgrade (I had paid for full premium and refunded it) since I'm going to keep GP for the time being, that way I can access the DLC when released. Tmobile gave me $25 for the MS Store so I'd be paying like $5 total.

That and someone complaining "You can't land on Gas Giants"

Both are silly as every game never loads the whole map.

The gas giant thing is just sad. Did these people not take basic science in grade school?

I saw the gas giant thing and assumed it was a troll post. Hope it wasn't real.

Re: STARFIELD: Xbox Series X/S and PC -2023

I called it. A 7/10 from IGN and Gamespot. 3.5/5 from PC Mag. 75/100 from PC Gamer. Gamespot called it an experience that’s a mile wide but an inch deep. Ouch. And Rolling Stone said there’s a lot of lifeless and barren planets.

Game Informer gave it an 8.5/10. Destructoid gave it a 10.

Kinda of bummed but I’ve played games that were rated terrible and I enjoyed a bunch.

Wow, I'm shocked. Figured it would all be 9/10s. Seemed like it was going to be XSX's killer app.

Re: STARFIELD: Xbox Series X/S and PC -2023

I listened to a bit of GameSpot's review. Their biggest complaint from what I heard was the main story being shallow and not up to par with the scope of the world. As usual with Bethesda games, it looks like all the good stuff is in the side quest stories you come across along the way. At least it doesn't appear to be a buggy mess. I'm still all-in, just with tempered expectations.

I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. If it’s anything like Skyrim or Fallout I’ll be fine.

I got the Deluxe upgrade. I assume it arrives from Amazon today. Not sure if it's worth keeping or not though.

May be worth to wait the week and try it out on Gamepass first then make the decision.

87 cume on metacritic doesn't sound too bad at all.

Re: STARFIELD: Xbox Series X/S and PC -2023

Some people were wondering if this was going to dethrone BG3 as GOTY, though, and it may not. And this is going to have tons of mods, so people will be playing this 20 years from now. So just another couple of decades Bethesda game yawn I can't wait to play it, but I can wait a week to avoid playing $30 that can be used for something else.

TBH no one actually thought this would be good enough for GotY other than maybe Phil Spencer. Expectations where higher than they should have been, IMO.

Damn. I'll be in my 60's when Bethesday releases their next major new environment.

Prediction: It's going to be in the sea.

88 now. That's a very good score. Just not the high 90s that BG3 and Zelda got.
I'm sure I'll enjoy the game and play it lots.
But after all this build up I was expecting universal acclaim, like BG3 got.
