I picked this up on launch day on Steam but had to refund it. Started to get motion sick after about an hour and a half of the campaign, even with the accessibility settings all turned on and camera movement speed slowed down. Made it to the US/Mexico border parts.
I may decide to re-buy it on PS5 since I'm sure I wouldn't have the same issue playing on my TV from 8-10 feet away. Been years since I've gotten into a FPS and was looking forward to diving into MP.

For those wondering just how bad this series got - here is a literal interpretation with NOTHING exaggerated:
So you see a skin you like huh? And now when you unlock a single skin, it gets unlocked for every weapon in the game - here's how you unlock them:
You have to use this shotgun and get 16 kills while crouching and then get 30 kills with a certain attachment - but in order to use that shotgun, you'll have to first use this pistol to unlock that shotgun and with that pistol you'll first have to get 50 kills then another 20 kills at point blank range only.
Yeah, just complete dumbness - they have completely run out of ideas for this franchise and it's officially over.
As Lopper mentioned, the weapon progression system makes absolutely no sense at all. Not only that, but once you max out a weapon, you get to now "Tune" it which consists of using a slider bar style mechanism to pick better handling, damage, etc... so - it off sets any weapon attachments you have. You'll also have to follow the skin unlock process listed above to unlock other weapons (i.e. use other weapons to unlock the weapons you want to really use) - weapons no longer become available as you rank up.
Did you stick around for all of that? Also, there can be over a hundred different attachments in a single category (i.e. scopes) for your weapon - all nonsense and none of them really make any difference.
Perks: remember how it worked? You would equip your three perks and they were active right of the gate - not anymore. Now you have to wait until certain time periods in a match and your final "bonus" perk doesn't even kick in until 7 or so minutes have passed.
Lastly, the maps - these are the worst maps in any call of duty game - there is only one really good one at that's Farm 18 - all the others are REALLY bad.
This game is a huge dud with the exception of the campaign - I'm playing it through it now and so far it's the best since COD 4: MW.
The only COD games I've skipped were black ops 2 and black ops 3 (I'm not a big Treyarch fan but I thought Cold War was actually decent and the gameplay in black-ops 4 was really good and tight) but I may fall off for good now - especially since this franchise now punishes the player and has sucked any fun that was left out of it.
Note that the beyond stupid unlock processes mentioned above started in Vanguard as well - they have been planning this for a while.

I don't mind the leveling up of guns. Yes, it's tedious... but they've already done 2x XP events combined with the Shipment map = mayhem (fun mayhem). That said, the maps do indeed suck. They're terrible. I play with my son and he loves the game. Personally, it's already worn a bit thin on me.

I actually love the unlock process and think it's one of the easiest I've done in a COD game. Bought the game a month ago, have about 33 hours in it and have unlocked almost all the levels for each of the weapons. Working on camos now. I also like the new prestige system, I hated losing all my stuff just to prestige.
I fell off COD games after Black Ops 3 but picked this up because I downloaded Warzone and enjoyed it. I will say, it was confusing at first figuring out the difference between CODMW2 and Warzone/DMZ, but I think DMZ is one of the best FPS modes I've ever played, especially when you have a team that communicates and works together. Some of the objectives though are a little ridiculous, especially considering that the AI is sometimes harder than humans.

The devs also made some nice tweaks to the killstreak rewards -- you can now use points instead of kills to unleash your rewards. That's great for someone like me who typically plays the objective and kinda sucks at getting twitch kills.

Yeah, and I'm glad they made it very obvious by the tiny little option at the bottom - I only found about this because of your post lol. I no longer read in-game patch notes either. there's just way too many of them now.

The weapon management in this game is so weird. So, when you select a "receiver" for a weapon, it just switches the weapon to the one mentioned in the receiver - what is that?
Tuning makes no sense either - there is no way to tell how to manage your weapon effectively - there is no feel to it, nothing distinguishing about it.
I will say they have smoothed out gameplay A LOT but......man are they dragging their feet on updates - new maps are DESPARATELY needed as well as.....I don't know, something else lol.

Again, the maps are awful. They are keeping me away from playing anymore. I loved Shipment 24/7 because it was chaotic fun... but now that's gone too.

Soooooo I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I love playing this game now. All the updates (including weapon tuning) they have done over the year have made this game great. The new Haunting event they do every Halloween just dropped and they actually added stuff for multiplayer this year (instead of just warzone).
I know most people don't like really like operator skins but if they catch my eye (homelander, spawn clown, and the soon to be releases book of the dead bundle where you can play as Ash.......oh and also the doom bundle where you don't get to play as doom guy but you get the shotgun and chainsaw in original frame rate) I usually buy them.
All the maps released throughout the year have been great as well - even some memorable ones for sure.
You can carry all of your camos and operators over to the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 as well which is a first and of course very welcoming.
I'm sure a lot of you still hate it but this one definitely redeemed itself for me.

Holy carp was the single player option hard to find. First I had to do all this 2-factor authentication, sign up, yada yada. But, then I did all that and all these screens and then it starts me in a monster infested something or other and said Season 6. What’s a season in Modern Warfare? Anyway, I found it, by man it was off the beaten path.

Seasons are for the online portions, namely Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Each season has a loot map, the more you play the more free loot you can get (guns, music, characters and outfits).
But yeah the menu is a nightmare if you aren't familiar with it. It still is once you are

Now, can I play this monster section as a single player? Because it did look pretty cool and I love survival horror.

No, it's not in the campaign. There are two multiplayer maps that take part in the haunting event and the rest is all for warzone (which I don't play) - just read the write-ups on each section.

Sorry to keep bumping this, but I just wanted to say, Bruce Campbells voice acting is f'n hysterical in this. I love using his operator in this.
