The XSS performance is embarrassing though.
Really wish GPUs were more affordable. It seems like if the GPUs needed to play the latest games remain unaffordable to the average person the shift away from PC gaming will grow. I have a [email protected] and 2080Ti and planned on upgraded my whole system at once. Now it's only affordable for me to upgrade everything except the GPU.

Thankfully I have a huge backlog.

I haven’t seen so many 100’s for a game ever, since I’ve known about metacritic. I may not be good at this type of game but damn if I’m not gonna try and try. Snow day tomorrow perhaps so I might be able to crack in midday. Excited.

Do you promise not to ask about every little obstacle you come across, please?

This is like the third or fourth straight Souls game thread that Oldboy has tricked you guys in to explaining to him how these games play and work. This info has already been given to him and he's played Souls games before.

Played for about an hour and a half, just wandering. Killed a big guy who had no stomach. That was neat. Got my ass handed to me by the Tree Sentinel. Not quite ready for him yet.

The game is gorgeous.

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

I like that it asks you to pick Body Type A or B without telling you what A or B is. Then it lets you change it on the next screen. This isn't unusual for From but still

Didn't care for the intro at all but that's par outside of Bloodborne. Enemy animations are great in this.

Ton of people running around right now and the expected number of try jump and but hole messages.

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

Started this morning got in about 90 minutes. Will have more time tomorrow but am already having fun. The parry seems way easier. It seems all I need to do is get hit and hit back to activate a successful parry. Seemed the other souls games was a lot harder to parry?

If you are getting hit, that isn't a parry. There is a stance break mechanism in Elden Ring, similar to Sekiro, so maybe you are doing that.

Doesn't explained in the controller manuel but pressing triangle L1+R1 together equiped weapon with both hands on the PS4. Thank for a friend pointing me that.

Early word is that (before any update) the PS4 version running on a PS5 plays better than the PS5 version.

^ PS4 on PS5 takes a visual hit but is a stable 60 fps. The PS5 version (in performance mode) is the best running of the current gen versions but usually fluctuates between 50 and 60 fps.

Just depends on how much a completely stable frame rate matters to you.

I had my shield up and the prompt "Parry" popped up on screen.

Gotcha. I thought you meant an unblocked hit.

Triangle + L1 (or L2) two hands whatever is in your left hand. Triangle + R1 (or R2) two hands whatever is in your right hand.

If you do the opposite direction while two handing, it takes you back to neutral

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

One thing I hope gets added is some kind of guidance to retrieve my body. It was easy in DS since the area was mostly non linear
. With the open world I've already had a hard time making my way to my dead body. The game already has a guiding path for the main quest so I dont see why they can't add this in.

In a game like this, where you need to be extremely precise, sometimes within just a few frames of animation, you need the most stable frame-rate.

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

game plays so fluidly. much more alacrity than DS3. not overly complicated controls. visually stunning. a horse that almost flies and can vanish and reappear with ease and so easily doing so. so far so great...

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

Fuck I am getting wrecked.

I should have picked something with magic so I could distance fight. I am not quick enough to melee fight these bastards.

I absolutely hate that you have to press a button to run. Biggest pet peeve for games. Let me just press down in the analog stick!

I definitely had to look up some shit just so I could get some ash summons.

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

The level of skill on some of these players is crazy.

No spoilers it's just a player killing the tutorial boss.

I hope there's a way to acquire that sword and shield cause that looks awesome!

Jesus. I literally walked into that battle, that thing jumped on me, killed me instantly and I was like, shit, I can see this game is gonna suck.
