Well, at least it doesn't suck.

I have a huge backlog of games so I’m in no rush, so I’m going to wait for more novice Souls games players to give their impressions. Plus I’m old and my hands hurt- seriously, if I have to button mash on this game to play I’ll probably skip it.

One of the best thing about the *Souls and related titles are how little they hold your hand. It's also one of the few franchises where discussion and guides can completely change your gaming experience

anyone know what class the guy in the IGN review i linked is using? i like the combo of sword and magic. also, i assume you have level indicators of bosses that are way too powerful for you to fight when you're just starting out and can leave them correct?
i pre-ordered through MS and they said it comes with:
- Adventure Guide Contains useful information for the player's adventures in the Lands Between.
what exactly is an adventure guide and is that something useful that i can use/open in-game? thanks.

Probably Confessor class? But if it's like Souls games, your starting class is only relevant at the beginning of the game. You can build your character to be anything, regardless of what you start with.

sounds good. i just like to start with a well-rounded character and Confessor or Vagabond seem the most well-rounded.

The more I read about the game, the more I am concerned this game will make me rage quit and never never come back. But I think I still want to play it.

Hell, sounds like just exploring the world and fighting basic enemies by itself would make for a great experience. Just ignore the story and bosses.

Yeah I went to erase but you caught that before then.
It'll definitely be a little different this time around, but in all the Souls games it's very easy to miss areas and bosses that help substantially with progress into the game. I'm not sure how much that'll have an effect in Elden Scrolls er Ring but I assume it'll still be similar (and same with BOTW) - you can definitely play it in any order, but certain areas will definitely benefit from having been to the other spots first.
I'm more curious about what kind of crazy things they come up for this time around - like getting to Archdragon Peak in DS3.

You can normally tell pretty quickly.

There's been players that have cleared the souls game without leveling up and just exploiting weaknesses. You don't necessarily need to be a certain level to face a boss.

sounds good. this world was too beautiful and seems the most accessible souls games to not get. i mean these are highest reviews or close to it for any game the past couple years.

LOL, my favorite quote from a review...
"From has raised the bar... for miserable fantasy worlds."
There is always a palpable sense in despair in their games - play them long enough, and you really do start to feel it!

Souls bosses are about learning its attack pattern, not overpowering it with your level. Leveling up can give you more margin for error though, which is especially valuable when you are still learning how to play these games.

My setup is starting to get a bit long in the tooth, I’ll wait for them to add DLSS support I think.

Interesting piece on the performance across all systems. I don't currently have my XSX plugged into my VRR display, but I might have to move it over there for this.
Really hoping more patches smooth things out a bit.

I feel like 50 fps+ is still pretty sufficient and other critics do note that any issues you have tend to fade into the background pretty quickly, though a solid 60 fps is desirable.
The XSS performance is embarrassing though.

This sounds like a really great game but one I have no interest in. I kind of feel like I'm missing out but know that I would be terrible at this and wouldn't play it hardly at all. So I will pass. Maybe come Black Friday....

I'll be finishing Cyberpunk (main story) tonight to make way for this tomorrow.
