Commander Niall is terrible. Bastard spawns two helpers and I can barely get one killed before I get my ass handed to me.

Was able to head elsewhere and beat the Fire Giant, but nothing happened at the place after that guy, so I have clearly missed some important quest or two along the way.

Starting to feel the open world fatigue a bit. There's no shortage of things to do, but it is now difficult to confirm where else I can go to progress the main story. I've done a lot of the


stuff, but that seems like it's all bonus stuff anyway.

Great game, though. I want to see the ending... Though I don't know how many this game has, nor what the 'true' ending should be.

Edit looks like I've skipped an entire section.of the map. I figured I had to go back there later since I couldn't find my way across a specific broken bridge. Hahaha I feel dumb.

Made it to the King last night. The Capital is big enough to be its own game. I know I passed at least a few bosses along the way that I didn't fight.

Godfrey (? think that was his name) was a giant pain in the ass as a robe wearing magic user.

My boss options are currently the Fire Giant and Starscourge Radahn and I'm not doing well with either. I did beat Rykard/Serpent last night though, that was an easy battle.

is the Fire Giant the one at the top of the capital? The one that starts off laying down, then gets up (and is in a loading screen image)? I killed that one but it didn't seem to drop/do much of anything.

I'm like level 56 and keep running into shit that makes me realize I have a lot of leveling to do yet because I just get curbstomped by some of the bossed I come across. Hell, I still can't take out that damn red invader in the lower part of Round Table Hold.

Just beat Radhan’s annoying ass. Kind of an epic fight, but I’m glad to be done with it.

Did you use Rot Breath on him? I have the incantation and I heard that helps a lot.

No, I just kept my distance on horseback, peppering him with arrows while re-summoning any of the team who would die. Had to be careful as some hits in his later stage will 1 shot you regardless of vigor. I haven’t used a spell outside of summon ashes yet.

Beat the king last night. Wasn't as hard as I was expecting. I had more trouble with axe guy right before him (First Elden Lord, or whatever he was). On to the snowy area. Figured I'd just make it to the map marker for the quest before turning it off and I ran into some winged boss who used me for a toothpick. Killing the king was enough progress for the night.

As with other From titles, it's impressive how much of the game is "optional" here. Some games won't even let you skip the painstakingly rendered CG sequences, From has hours long areas that you could miss entirely

Reminds me...I need to go back to the underground area at some point to finish that up. Not sure if there's more to it than lighting all the fires to be able to fight the boss. I was way too low level the first time I stumbled upon it.

Is that the area with all the ghost creatures? I think I have stumbled onto that at a low level, too.

Anyway, I finally beat Godrick. I used the Bloodfang +2 to do it, and I was level 45. Weirdly enough, he didn't go into his second phase at all. I just kept wailing on him. I got the St. Trinia sword that was mentioned earlier in the thread. Should I be using that or the Bloodfang? I like the putting monsters to sleep effect, but the sword itself seems pretty weak, even at +2. I'm level 52 now, which weapon would work best?

I met a new friend today, too. Goes by the name of Preceptor Miriam. Feisty, and a total BS fight. I kept dying and then of course was running to get my body and forgot the elevator was up. Bye bye 8k runes.

What is some good armor to look for? I don't have anything special it seems. Do you ever learn anything useful with the cookbooks? I can make some weak arrows, some darts, a few pots, and some grease I don't have the ingredients for. Oh and I think I can heal my horse and put a light on the ground

What about the ashes of war? When should I be using them? On what weapons? I don't want to waste them.

Ashes of War are reusable/reassignable so you don't need to worry about wasting them so much.

I don't use crafting much but there are a few powerful things as you get further in

My two weapons of choice are a +21 longsword and a +9 crystal sword, I really should be using cooler stuff but eh.

I just acquired the Tree Sentinel's Great Shield. Rotten Breath is soo Cheesey I have no shame!

Don't have the stats for it yet but from what I've read it'll be worth it for the power it can do

The mountain tops is quite a bump up in difficulty. Every enemy seems to have way more health than the areas before.

I noticed that too. Then promptly went back and cleared out some bosses I uh accidentally bypassed

I had a mini-boss jump off a cliff earlier. Most satisfying victory so far and an easy 77000 runes.

Early on in the mountain there's thin bridge to run across with a fat guy using a giant red whip at its beginning. I tried so hard to get him to yeet himself off a ledge but didn't get it. Eventually just ran past him.

does upgrading the finger seal increase your damage with incantations like fireball?
i carry it on my left hand just to be able to cast incantations but the stats shows physical attack 25.
are you supposed to attack with it???

Yes, upgrading the item will also increase the potency of the spells you cast.
