It’s the trailer from 6 months ago, but we didn’t have a dedicated thread, so I get it.
I’m looking forward to Splatoon 3 — a rare sequel from Nintendo on the same platform! — despite being pretty let down by 2. (Inferior campaign, didn’t like the music as much, and I got sick of the constant drops. Every few rounds, it’d start a match 3v4, which is a near-guaranteed loss for the disadvantaged team.)

I was mainly wondering what was up because my daughter is obsessed with this game and I haven't seen any new info leaked since then.

This would have been an awesome Summer game. Or is it better as back to school with all the kids (and parents) at home now?
There is a demo/splatfest next weekend 8/27
This is confusing though. I'm not sure what code they are talking about. I went to the eshop and downloaded it.

The Splatoon 3 demo will start on August 27, 2022, and on that day from 9 am to 9 pm PT players who downloaded the free pre-order through Nintendo can try out the new Tricolor Turf War Splatfest event. The free pre-order of the Splatoon 3: World Premiere is available remotely on the Nintendo site or directly from the Nintendo Switch eShop, and can be ordered now. The code itself will not be redeemable until August 25 and will expire on August 31. On August 27, from 9 am to 9 pm PT, players who have redeemed the code on their Nintendo Switch will have access to the content.

The campaign is great - better than the sequel, even. I also had a better time with the multiplayer since Splatoon 2 had worse tick rates and seemed more prone to lopsided matches. If a team is down a player, it’s a near-guaranteed loss, and it’d be 4v3 on average every 3 matches.
Hopefully Splatoon 3 polishes some of that up.

I read the description in the store 49 times, and think I figured it out. The code is a 7-day trial of Switch Online, so basically unrelated to the Demo. just so anyone can try it out.

This is my favorite Splatoon campaign yet, even if the original’s final boss will never be topped. There’s a lot more freedom, and you can actually ignore a sizable percentage of the levels if you want (although I had enough fun that I played through everything).
One weird thing is that the first “real” boss once the game is underway is tougher than any other enemy encounter in the game, up to and including the final boss. (Technically there’s a boss in the prologue, but the training wheels are very much still on then, so I don’t really count that as the first boss. And I haven’t attempted any of the endgame campaign levels, so I can’t speak to how brutal those encounters are.)
I’m looking forward to getting back into the online swing of things.

Been playing this for a couple weeks now. Mainly MP and Salmon run. Liking it so far but honestly, so far, it wasn't worth the $60. Like I really don't see much of a difference at all between this game and Splatoon 3. A couple of new weaspons (that so far are terrible IMHO), and a couple of different Salmon bosses and that's it. The MP and Salmon run stages are not very impressive and a lot of them are the same as Splatoon 2. Even a lot of the musical cues and sound effects are the same. I'm really puzzled as to what the major differences are between 2 and 3. I must not be the only one because Honest Trailers mentions it as well.
