Marvel meets XCOM, pretty much. Gameplay reveal next Wednesday. And you can get a Blade skin if you sign up for their newsletter.

I’ve got the 90’s comics run in the house somewhere. It’s quite the rag tag group.

No. Different devs, different playstyle (this is kind of a tactical RPG), this would’ve started development years before Avengers was released, and it doesn’t have the same sort of budget behind it.

And yeah, that was Ghost Rider.

If the Avengers game is the best they could come up with having a giant budget then maybe it's for the best that this game doesn't.

Oh, for sure. Midnight Suns plays to Firaxis’ strengths, and the AAAA-franchise-hype quotient isn’t really a thing, giving them more freedom. Avengers had all the expectations that comes with being associated with a multi-billion dollar IP, which is why it felt compelled to appeal to everyone and wound up being the worst of most every possible world.

But basing things on the comparatively obscure Midnight Sons comics whose heyday was decades ago, starring a brand new character with no comic/movie equivalent, featuring lesser known characters like Nico Minoru, and embracing a gameplay style that isn’t your usual AAA fare…without having that Avengers-style pressure as an anchor around their neck, I think they’re positioned to do something really special.

Iron Man has no business being in the Midnight Suns.

Neither does Cap, and yet there is is in the trailer.

Maybe Iron Man is a replacement for Iron Fist, because, you know, nobody likes him, lol.

I haven't played a turn-based RPG since FF7... but this just might change that.

Gameplay is very different in a tactical RPG from what FFVII is. If you have an Xbox One and Game Pass, check out Gears Tactics for an idea.

This looks very cool. An interesting use of valuable licenses. I'm in.

Again, you can try Gear Tactics on Game Pass and at least see. It's difficult gameplay but can be rewarding.
Sometimes it's nice to try something different than mass buttons and block.

re: Marvel's Midnight Suns (PS, Xbox, Steam, EGS; 12/1/22)

Theses are just a few hours a weekend of escapism. Pure, outrageous, ingenious, silly bits of escape for a few. I’m not thinking in these games too much. I do play variety in genres and games. Yes, mostly FPS, but I like a good Ori type game, 3rd person top down, they are just mindless fun.

Anything tactics is just disinteresting to me. It why I would never play a modern sports game, haven’t even had desire to try Flight Sim. Just these quick bursts of unadulterated dumbness, but oh so much fun…

Yeah. I can see that. Tactical RPGs can feel a little bit like a math problem or homework.

I am trying to decide if this will be my jam. Loved FF Tactics and played several of the FF games in the past. But I DL'd Gears Tactics recently and I lasted about 30 mins. The Marvel angle is what makes this so appealing.

It seemed to me that Gears Tactics was really hard. I have to assume that they'd make this game more accessible and forgiving. Would be nice if they provided a demo in advance.

That’s a drag. I wonder what all will actually wind up coming out before the end of the year. Hogwarts Legacy and Sonic Frontiers, for instance, still don’t have release dates, despite supposedly being a few months away.

Hilarious because they are pimping the shit out of this on Twitter. The main account for the game tweets damn near daily!
