The card aspect of the game concerns me. It seems like it’s tacked on just to add tons of microtransactions.

I am actually kind of surprised that this is coming out tomorrow, given the recent, unspecified delay or the release date.
Reviews are good. So I went ahead and bought the Legendary Edition using discounted PSN credit from Costco. Looks cool.

I’ll definitely pick this up after I work through my Black Friday purchases. It looks good.

Back in August I had no idea what it was. Then I read it was by Firaxis and very X-Com like with Marvel content. So I waited for reviews and as soon as I saw they were good, I preordered the digital standard edition.

re: Marvel's Midnight Suns (PS, Xbox, Steam, EGS; 12/1/22)

I played the tutorial part of the game last night. It's actually pretty cool the way they incorporate the card system into the turn based strategy game play. I was concerned that I'd be pretty confused as I sometimes am with card based gaming systems but this one is pretty intuitive and looks quite cool. I'm looking forward to checking it out some more.
I still don't know if it's worth it but I am glad that I got the legendary edition for $30 more than the base game since the season pass when bought separately is a whopping $50! That means every single DLC character pack is probably gonna be $15.

I thought this would be a good game for me, but I don’t play or know what a turn based card game is. Cool looking though, but not for me.

Think of it as a turn based strategy game, not unlike Mario vs Rabbids or Persona 5 or Halo Wars -- but with Marvel Superheros as your units -- the difference is in this case, what attacks you can pull off is based on which cards are in you hand at the time. Might be an attack, a shield spell or a special limited, more-powerful attack. As you advance in the game, rather than just powering up your heroes, you get better cards with new abilities. The cards introduce a randomness and variability to the battles.

I’m really looking forward to playing this, but hearing that it’s a 50 hour campaign kind of has me squirming in my seat a little.

I heard 75 hour. It’s very fun though. So much more to do than just battle.

Has anyone played this? I watched the first hour on YouTube and it looks fun.

Yeah the combat is cool. The Superhero friendship simulator, not so much. But I like the game overall.

I've been playing the hell out of this game, and I'm really enjoying it, the combat at least.

I think I'm within sight of the end of the story, so I'm slowing down on main story quests and focusing more on maxing out all of my friendship levels/hero abilities. I only have a few more to go at this point.

It gives you more to do. I don't mind it.

That smells like $20. I wish I'd just gotten the enhanced version

re: Marvel's Midnight Suns (PS, Xbox, Steam, EGS; 12/1/22)

Looks like this was a total flop: https://www.darkhorizons.com/marvels...dubbed-a-flop/
In a tweet yesterday, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed he had spoken with the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, who indicated to him that the game “was a critical success but a commercial flop”. Zelnick reportedly spoke about the reasoning for the flop, saying that “it’s possible the release window wasn’t perfect” and dragged the game’s sales down. He adds that he “thinks it [the game] could have a long tail”. “Midnight Suns” was seemingly hurt by multiple delays and then released the same day as the more high-profile sci-fi horror entry “The Callisto Protocol”.

I'm a huge fan of Midnight Suns, Ghost Rider, and X-com... and I waited for a sale. I know it's been years but the stink of Avengers just soured me on Square Enix Marvel.

This is on sale for $35.99 for PC on Steam this week. I'm waiting for it to drop to the $29.99 price range and I'll buy it.

It’s a great game. But after finishing it and trying the Deadpool DLC, I uninstalled it.

Free play weekend. You'd certainly be better served playing the open Diablo IV Beta, but if that crashes, you might want to check this one out.
