I think it'll sell well since this is the closest thing to a new GTA game in almost ten years.

This isn't great.

Metacritic score right in line with IGN at 60.
That's very low for a high profile AAA game.

Re: Saints Row (8/23/22) - PS, Xbox, Epic

Scores are all over the place. The recurring theme in the reviews I've glanced at so far seems to be "outdated, more of the same, buggy, but fun", and that's in-step with what I was expecting. Okay, maybe not the bugginess, exactly, but...

Push Square also said:

Should be noted that review code was sent out long before a patch. The original review build had HUGE issues, but a patch was distributed last week which improved a lot of that.

I知 on the fence. I was all ready to pick it up but I might wait for a sale now.

My pre-order is downloaded and I'm ready to hit it tonight. I read the review with the highest rating and that's it, since I'm playing it regardless. I've been needing something anyway; just replayed Far Cry 5 while I was waiting for this so I'm ready.

I got my copy delivered. It's going to suck, but I'm going to have fun with it.

Played for about 90 minutes and had a blast. Don't love the brief black screen between scenes but whatever. Just barely scratching the surface, of course, but so far it's exactly what I hoped.

Re: Saints Row (8/23/22) - PS, Xbox, Epic

I played the first mission last night and was a bit perplexed when
Spoiler:
After hooking onto the plane with the wench and climbing aboard, the mission went from happening in the dead of night to midday right in the middle of the action. I was seriously taken aback. Not sure if that was intentional or a huge oversight.

I'll have to dive in some more before forming an opinion. I still think it will end up being mindless fun like a mix of Just Cause, Far Cry and GTA but with the less grounded feeling of any of them.

Re: Saints Row (8/23/22) - PS, Xbox, Epic

Played a couple hours last night (PS5).
Very fun game, but holy shit, it has to be the buggiest mess of a game I've ever played.
In just two hours, I lost count of all the bugs - there were at least 20 - and at least 5 of them were pretty major.

Game has potential, but I'm gonna have to wait for a few patches before I start it up again.

That confirms it for me. I’ll be wait til it’s on sale.

Like what? I've played a few hours with no bugs, but maybe I've just gotten lucky.

Little things like aiming for no reason while riding a bike.
The prompt saying "X to drift" staying on screen long after I've gotten out of a car, and into the apartment.
Character's arms flailing around for no reason.
A lot of things like that.

The thing that really pissed me off was after that initial mission with the Marshals, while you're driving back home, your first time in the open world, while some credits play, instead of letting me drive home, just a minute in to that ride, it goes to a cut scene, and then I'm in the apartment. I really wanted that ride, because it's my first time in the world, and I wanted to see the lay of the land and establish locations/perspective, but nope, fucking game glitched me out of that!

There's also be A LOT of instances of the game not saving various things on my character, and so much more.
And this is less than two hours.

From what I'm seeing on Twitter and ResetERA, the PS5 version doesn't have the day one patch (not 100% sure if that's the 1.03 update) that EGS and Xbox have. Everything's been pretty alright for me on the Series X. Kinda slow and clunky, yeah, but no bugs have leapt out at me. I'm having a good time so far.

It's a janky-ass game on the PS5 right now

I think it's an issue with how PS5 handles memory, resulting in memory leaks leading to glitches specific to the PS5.

Played the PS4 version (on the PS5) yesterday, for about the same amount of time, and I had virtually no glitches, at least nothing close to the same level I did on the PS5. Also, the two versions are nearly identical.

Re: Saints Row (8/23/22) - PS, Xbox, Epic

Hey, I think I just saw you in the Saints Row thread on ResetERA!

The biggest bug I've run into so far on the Series X was a car-top RPG battle where my weapon was invisible. But it sounds like the worst showstoppers are still later in the game.

I watched a bunch of the campaign on you tube - very hollow game and just seems really boring. I'll pass.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Maybe when it's on a significant sale it will be worth getting then. It is kind of dumb, shallow fun. But not worth full price for sure.

I mean, it's Saints Row, which isn't necessarily known for deep storytelling. It's shooting and blowing things up etc. & etc. FWIW, I'm playing on the PS5 & (so far) have had no bugs at all and am totally enjoying the game. There's a lot of variety in the missions, though some I like more than others, but overall I'm loving it so far.

I know you don't want to hear it but the game sucks and its lame. I was a big fan of 2 and while 3 and 4 sucked, they were entertaining and made me laugh. This new one is just lame.

I know I知 in the minority, but I loved 3, really enjoyed 4, liked Gat Out of Hell more than I assumed I would, and am having a pretty terrific time with the reboot. No regrets, not even at full price.

I loved SR3 as well. Yes, SR2 felt more "complete" in a way but I much preferred the tone of SR3. Although I also liked SR4, it felt like a step down. I was hoping this reboot would strike the perfect balance between SR2 and SR3. Sadly the word of mouth has been surprisingly atrocious. :(

I played with a female Boss as well and spent what may be considered an inordinate amount of time customizing her look as well. rotfl
