I'm loving mine, though few issues (screen sometimes not displaying correctly when pressing power button, screen didn't display on one instance at boot time). Ability to run some of my Epic games is really cool (with some cloud save issues, but im able to work around them).

Just time consuming loading my games to micro SD card

Loving mine as well. All those indie games I bought during Steam summer sales are finally getting play time. Stuff I never would have sat in front of a PC for hours to play.

My biggest gripe is loading time. I bought the 512 and games still load kinda slow compared to what I expected from a NVMe. It’s not terrible but I guess I’m spoiled by my PC and PS5.

Re: Steam Deck - Dec 2021 - $399, $529, and $649

My Steam Deck arrived yesterday... I have not had any time to do anything with it aside from get connected and download an update... BUT (and I take full responsibility for this as I know not everything is compatible), I was hugely disappointed to learn that two games I own (Rainbow Six Siege and Legend Bowl) are not compatible with this device. When I looked at the list of "best games for Steam Deck", most I have played or have no interest in. I get it's Linux based but I was hoping for compatibility with one of the most successful MP games ever

I mean that's up to Ubisoft and their stance on anti cheat stuff, isn't it?

Throw windows on it?

That guy's Description is a trove of bonus info for the Steam Deck. Legend Bowl apparently runs only minor issues, apparently you just need to ensure it's in Windowed mode.

Mine came up for purchase this weekend but it's literally just days since I upgraded my Switch and bought a video pinball table. Timing not good for another big video game purchase so I let it expire. Might go back in line for next year.

I did find a comprehensive video on YouTube to add Windows --- which I'll probably give it a shot.

Update: I was able to get a Windows boot process going on a 512GB micro-SD card and it works perfectly.

Anybody using Game Pass on your Steam Deck? I was going to try and set mine up tonight.

I have all these Steam games plus I bought a few after my deck arrived... so why can't I stop playing Vampire Survivors?

Got mine yesterday, installed a 256gb ssd to replace the 64gb and partitioned a 512gb MicroSD to be 128gb for Win 10 and the rest ext4.

No idea why I did all that but nerd toy! (But now I have THPS 1+2 and Fall Guys working. Not sure if worth that )

Surprised at how well this also works in docked mode even if it is stuck in 720p mostly. Been a useful portable console while visiting the folks.

Steam Deck on sale for first time for 1 year anniversary.

They also added to UI ability to choose custom boot videos. Make sure to create directories and install your custom videos to "/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/config/uioverrides/movies" (despite what their post says, that directory does not work, spent most of yesterday trying to figure it out).

I bit on the sale and bought a 256GB Steam Deck. I'm really hoping this one clicks for me as I've tried numerous handheld systems dating back to the Atari Lynx and they all wind up collecting dust within a few months. Knowing me I'll spend untold hours tweaking it and setting up emulators and then never actually play the thing. Oh well, if nothing else I can just re-gift it.

So the 256 gig one can hold like ... 3 big games at a time? Hogwarts Legacy and such are huge.

I've had my Steam Deck for a few days now and have yet to play a single Steam game on it yet. I do however have a couple of thousand games installed using Emu Deck and Emulation Station DE and this thing is an emulation monster. I can't believe how painless it was to get it all set up and looking and working great. Basic knowledge of Linux is helpful as is a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo to make navigating desktop mode easier but it's by far the easiest emulator setup I've ever done. As much as I enjoy playing the big new game releases nothing beats retro gaming when you only have a few minutes here and there.

I love it...got most of my old Star Wars and Star Trek games up and running using Lutris or Heroic. Probably got 80% of old games working (could not get Wing Commander IV and Prophecy running). Some native Linux games would not run because some dependencies were missing, but got the Windows equivalent using Proton up and running with no problem.

Only issue I have with the Deck as an emu machine is its battery life. If you want to play retro, there are other devices with much better battery. Otherwise yeah, it's an emulation monster.

Most sites are blocked at my work but I saw a quick write-up about it this morning. What are the storage options? Starting at $549 seems expensive for the other upgrades alone. Is that still 64gb?

Oh, damn. $20 more for twice the storage and all the other upgrades to the screen/battery is nice.

Wow. I'm glad I hadn't gotten around to getting one yet. Seems like the new version is worth the wait.
