Finally got my preorder email. Almost missed it since they sent it on the 4th and only give you 72 hours to buy it.

So I guess heroic games launcher is the recommended way to play some GOG games?

What group were you in, q2 or q3?

I want to say q3 but I honestly don't remember, is there a way to check after purchase?

I was in the Q3 group (if I remember correctly I didn't preorder until the second day) and my Steam Deck arrived today. I got the email on the 7th and placed the order on the 8th.

Pretty much same with me (also got mine on the 15th) so I must've been in the Q3 group too.

I think I'm getting there. I'm not a big PC gamer, more of a console gamer (because my dad drilled into my brain to use the computer for work/school and the console for play) and most of the games I've gotten are on GOG which is not really compatible.

So I'm up for anyone's recommendations on great Steam games to play on this, portable. I was thinking maybe I'll rebuy No Man's Sky or something.

Got the purchase email for my 64GB preorder today. I have quite a list of games on my Steam wishlist that I can finally pick up.

I can’t help but wish I’d gone with the 256GB model, but I recognize that I’m not going to be playing Elden Ring or Call of Duty type AAA games on this, and I rarely have more than a couple games installed at any given time on PC or console, so in reality much of that storage would’ve never been touched anyway.

I've heard anecdotally that it's not impossible to swap out the drives.

I did it a couple days ago. It's stupid easy to do. I took my 64gb to a 512gb for about $50 and a few minutes of time. It wasn't terribly necessary though. I'd been running RDR2, Stray, Jedi Fallen Order, and GTA IV off a 256 SD card without any problems.

I am hoping to do the same - run an SD card before swapping out hardware.

It's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, but I'll be out of town until Friday, so hands off until then. It'll be nice to have a few more days with Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

I finally got the email!

About how long should I expect it to take to ship and deliver?

It might depend on where you live. I'm in California. I got the email on a Thursday, paid on Saturday, and received it the Sunday of the next week, so 8 days for me. My son got his a month later and it took 9 days.

Set my console up last night. Is it ok to charge using a standard usb c or do I have to use the supplied charger like the Switch?

You probably have to use the included power supply to power the Dock, as it consumes more power when running in Dock mode playing on a TV. I learned this when I got a Switch and tried to use a different USB power supply. There's alternative power supplies available, but you'll likely need a "laptop" capable one, that can output 15V/2.6A.

However, you can probably use a "standard" charger for charging the Switch in portable mode, on the go, etc. It should probably be able to output 5V/1.5A though.

Re: Steam Deck - Dec 2021 - $399, $529, and $649

I've had the Steam Deck for a week now, and I just love it. Extremely impressive piece of hardware.

First thing I did was install a 256GB SD card. Figured I'd do it now rather than wait until I needed it. Then I just installed a bunch of games to see how they'd run - Sekiro, Doom Eternal, Shadow of Mordor, and several smaller titles - and everything played much better than I'd expected. I kept Mordor installed, removed the rest, and also downloaded Teardown and Rogue Legacy 2, which is insanely good if you like rogue-likes.

It's currently my Everspace 2 machine but I did buy Rogue Legacy 2 when it was on sale last week, so I'll give it a go. I even rebought No Man's Sky.

And that Resident Evil Humble Bundle is tempting me even though I already own all of those games on console...

Like now I have to pay closer attention to Steam sales too?

I bought Everspace 2 last year during a price error on GoG for $15.99. Haven't got around to playing it, but I hear it's excellent. Because it's on GoG, it's out of sight out of mind - I don't open that app ever. Does anyone know if it's possible to install games from other storefronts/launchers, GoG specifically, on Steam Deck?

^^ Same. I keep an eye on my email so I can pounce on this. I haven't played a PC game in a long, long time but cannot wait to get this little machine.

there's some web-apps on reddit which are supposed to predict your place in line based on when you ordered. I'm Q3 July-Sept, so expecting my number to come up soon also...
