Screenshots from the MS store:

Also, the entire game takes place in a single shot, a la God of War. No camera cuts, no loading screens.

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

Dead Space Remake Will Feature Expanded Lore, Side Quests, and References to Dead Space 2 and 3

EA and developer Motive Studio have revealed some additional insights into its upcoming remake of Dead Space, its “from scratch” rebuilding of the 2008 sci-fi survival horror classic, which will feature new content alongside its “modern enhancements”. Among the new stuff on offer will be expanded lore, as well as references to the game's sequels.

“As an example, Isaac has a voice here, just like in Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3,” explains Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola in a new blog post. “And some characters who were a bit more secondary, who only appeared in audio logs, like Dr. Cross - we gave them some actual screen time.”

Campos-Oriola adds that more "background and agency" will also be given to key characters like Isaac's love interest, Nicole. As such, a “whole layer” of narrative side quests will be added to the Dead Space remake, including one that reveals what happened to Nicole during the outbreak aboard the USG Ishimura.

Using the Frostbite engine, every animation, texture, effect, and piece of enemy behaviour has been completely rebuilt, with no camera cuts or loading screens, unless you die. Senior Producer Philippe Ducharme also notes that the Ishimura is now “fully interconnected” so you can talk through the entire ship in one go, and revisit any locations where you might have missed items.

“That’s all new,” says Ducharme. “It’s now a completely unbroken experience.” That said, Motive is still making sure to “honour the legacy” of the original Dead Space with the remake. ”We want to make sure we’re starting with the original, and staying true to that experience, and then we’re giving you a lot more," Campo-Oriola explains.

“The goal was to make you feel like you’re experiencing Dead Space again for the first time, if you were already a fan of the game. But we also have the chance to give people who never played it the opportunity to have the definitive Dead Space experience, with a game that plays, that looks, that sounds like a modern game.”

I liked DS2 the most out of the three games - I hope they remake that one too!

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

I want that collector's edition but woah...an eye-watering 275 bucks!

I am not familiar with Limited Run games. Is this the only place you can get it or will they be handling distribution out to Amazon and other places so it might hit a cheaper price point?

SAME. I normally don't look back/buy remakes, but this one just looks too dang good to pass up. Can't believe how long it's been...

Is this up for preorder? Xbox store? Didn’t see it. And, $70 is price for what, the CE with trinkets? Can’t be just the game.

the footage looked awesome. I can’t believe I finished the first two considering how much I suck.

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

Why the f is this remake so expensive? It’s more than a normal release, but this is a remake. That’s frigging kooky talk.

Yeah, they did that with The Last of Us also, full new game price for a remake. I am not a fan of this either, but for this one I will likely make an exception...

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

It's a remake, but that doesn't mean the game made itself. I don't have a problem with this being full new release price.

don’t get me wrong, I’m down as well, but more than a full regular release seems abhorrent.

No one said the remake makes itself, only that full price for a remake -- as opposed to a new game created from scratch -- is annoying, and it's a fairly new phenomenon.

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

This game costs so much because we're fast approaching the "Series X and PS5 only" era.

Re: DEAD SPACE: Remake

Nearly two weeks away and I finally got around to watching some side-by-side comparisons between the 2008 Original and New Remake. I've seen Upgraded for PS5 Gams which do look better but have to say what they've done with a 2008 to Upgraded Remake is pretty impressive. Shame Console Owners aren't getting the same Deal as PC Players. PO Dead Space Remake and Get Dead Space 2 Free. Anyway, enjoy...
