What are you Playing? (April 2021 | Retailer-exclusive Collectors Edition)

I played through the first Drakengard (PS2) game over the last few days. It's, umm... bleak. I did endings A, B, and C myself, but just watched videos for D and E because I don't have the patience for some of the side missions and finding all the weapons.
For those that don't know... E is the "official" timeline that leads to the seemingly unrelated
Spoiler:
NieR

games. Most fans of those games seem to know that, though.
I played this mainly because I wanted to experience it myself. It was... fine. Kind of a slog at times, but not terribly so. Probably only took about 12 hours on Easy. Not sure I'd recommend it, but watching an "explainer" video might suffice. That said... I think I'll play Drakengard 3, but more than likely skip Drakengard 2.

We're in the home stretch of It Takes Two. That'll be done this week for sure.

The only game I have pre-ordered for April is NieR Replicant (not counting New Pokťmon Snap as a gift for my wife). Before firing that up, I'll probably play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 for the PS5 (which I fired up long enough to goof around with Create-a-Skater but haven't actually played yet). I might also re-play the campaign in Marvel's Avengers. I'm chipping away at the '50 hives' trophy on the PS5 now, but due to the lack of in-game tracking, I have no idea if I'm really close or dozens of attempts away.

I guess in theory that Limited Run's Switch port of the original Shantae will be here this month, and maybe that'll be in rotation too.

The news about the Vita store shutting down prompted me to check out Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I own it on cartridge, so i guess there wasnít really any pressing need to play it now.

This is the first time Iíve really felt a ďI just need to play one more level drive in a long time. I own and also havenít played Uncharted 4, but my enjoyment of this makes me want to pick up the first three games, too.

I think I'm more proud then depressed, but I think my daughter, who is in junior high, has surpassed me in video games, at least for stuff that demands reaction time. It also helps that she has a lot more free time.

A year or so ago, I found that I could no longer easily beat her in Mario Kart, she had memorized all the courses and began kicking my tail. She just destroys me in Splatoon. And yesterday she almost beat Sans in Undertale in Genocide mode. She was having trouble so I offered to help, not having ever played that particular battle. This is the battle for those unfamiliar (you move the little heart around):

I tapped out around the halfway point. Then she tried again and got to the very last step before she died. She basically spent much of her spring break trying to beat this, and she actually cried out of joy for almost beating it. Reminds me of the epic battles in my youth of staying up all night trying to beat stuff like Phantasy Star 2. Brings tears to my eyes.

On my front, I've been trying out Monster Hunter. This must be like the 12th monster hunter I've started, so we'll see how long I last this time. I'm trying to get my daughter to play with me but it is a very dense game and not in a genre she likes.

Still playing Yakuza: LIke a Dragon. I'm at the point I hit in every JRPG where I keep bumping up against bosses that I have to grind to beat. To help with the tedium I've also started The Sexy Brutale.

Finally went back to Red Dead 2. Never really got far as I spent most my time in Valentine playing Poker and hunting Deer in the woods, and Bounty Hunting. Going to start doing some story Missions .

I'm playing Bloodborne again, the DLC this time which is kicking my ass (NG+ as I had finished the game prior to the DLC release).

Mostly though, I'm holding out for Nier Replicant to come out.

Lego Marvel Superheroes. I've mostly been playing this to unlock things for my son and daughter, who are more interested in flying or driving around and making up stories than playing the missions.
Infamous Second Son.

Finally finished The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

A little over a week behind my intended schedule, but just in time for Trails of Cold Steel IV to hit PC tomorrow.

Pick up the first three and play them all in order. The trilogy is probably pretty cheap.

The Uncharted collection was also released on PS+ a little while back. If you're a member of that, check your "purchase" history, it might be in there.

I ordered the Nathan Drake collection for like $10 off eBay. I should have it in a few days.

The Golden Abyss isn't in the collection. The only way to play it is still on the Vita itself.

Playing Resident Evil VII.
This is one of those time where I ask myself why the hell I slept on this game for so long. Great game.

Golden Abyss wasn't made by Naughty Dog so that's why they leave it out of the collection. It's a similar situation to Batman Arkham Origins being the black sheep since it wasn't made by Rocksteady so it never got ported like the other games did.

For me, the main two games will be these with some others on the side....

And this which has been a real surprise and was once on my "Diablo Style Games To Play" list but when it came out a year ago it had lots of issues...but the game has been solid and the art, story and size has been pretty aewsome.....

That's a remake that already is in desperate need of another remake.
