I loved the Tiger Woods Series when EA made them. Hopefully we can get a good golf game from them once again.

Should be interesting to see how this compares to the 2K offering. The current 2K game is pretty good and the next will have Tiger branding.

This could be an awesome use of the PS5’s new VR system.

EA's golf game will include The Masters!

If there is no course creator then they are going to be behind the curve. That would be a MAJOR advantage to the 2k game with the massive amount of user created courses.

I'm really excited for this game to drop. We haven't been able to play at Augusta since the 360 days.

I still play the Rory McIlroy one from 8 years ago, from time to time.

Looking forward to this!

Gameplay video. Game is obviously WAYYYY too easy on Pro difficulty.

Any specifics? EA has had the foundation for PGA games for years. Curious to see how they could mess it up now.

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

Well let me start by saying that even though I used to play the old EA PGA golf games and the first couple of Tiger Woods ones back in the late 90's on PC (fun fact - that is where I came up with my username), I never really played their console games because of the arcadey bullshit like adding spin to your shot while your ball is in the air. So that being said it may play similar to those games and the last Rory game they put out, and if so you may actually like it if you liked those.
But my big complaints so far are the swing mechanic feels like you are playing in a pool filled with mud. It's so clunky and slow. There is no smoothness to it whatsoever.
Another thing is even with the difficulty jacked up hitting your drives and iron shots straight is simple, the only way to really hit a bad slice or pull is if you start trying to use shot shaping. It took me only 7 holes to get my first eagle, which is kind of ridiculous for a new game.
The game looks great, I will give it that.

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

Were you playing as a created character with low stats or did you pick a PGA Pro? If you just jumped into a quick round with someone like Rory, I would expect making straight shots to be easy.

Maxflier 04-04-23 09:39 AM

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

I was playing as Nelly Korda.

Noonan 04-04-23 09:44 AM

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

Well there you go. Play as one of the best LPGA golfers and things are going to be easy.

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

So is MLB the Show easy since you are using all pro players? Madden? NBA 2k?

Noonan 04-04-23 10:03 AM

Re: Electronic Arts announces new Next-Gen golf game: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR

Yes? Been that way since Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl.

Golf is not a team sport. Can't really compare to baseball or football where you will always have players with lower stats in the mix. If I bought a Tennis game and started up a match playing as Serena, I would expect it to be fairly easy because I'm playing as one of the best to ever do it. If I was able to start a NBA 2k game where all 5 of my players were LeBron, I'd expect that to be easy too.

I read these complaints as well over at Operation Sports. Sounds like the swing thing is a mess and must be fixed.
