The story plays out really well, and I love the team dynamic.

Yeah I've progressed a bit and the combat is opening up and not so tedious now. I do like the way the story is playing out. Just a bit clunky on the crime patrolling / no fast travel yet. Getting a bit annoying traversing the whole city ping pong style back and forth with the motorcycle to hit the premeditated crimes.

I've tried to play about equal with everyone and Robin is my favorite at this point. I think having the big staff as his weapon makes it a bit easier to hit from a slight distance.

It turns out that I really enjoy open world checklist type games. The Far Crys, Assassins Creeds, and Horizon Zero Dawns of the world.

Despite the reviews, I’m looking forward to eventually picking this up. I’m absolutely waiting for a steep discount, and hopefully a performance mode patched into the PS5 version, but I’m really keeping an eye on the PC version. I can already run it at greater than 30fps with my hardware, and I’m curious to see what community quality of life mods are eventually released.

I suffer from the same curse. Give me a map with icons, and I am honor-bound to un-fog every inch of it and scrub all those icons clear.

Re: Gotham Knights (10/21/22)

No SPOILERS, but at first I thought "Man, that's an underwhelming ending." Then I realized, that WASN'T the ending.

Then I was like, oh we're BACK... and then I was like, holy WOW this awesome. Then I was all OK this last bit is getting SUPER repetitive. Until IT happened.

And then I was all in.

What a great ending Fantastic story and very satisfying overall. My favorite Batman-related game since the OG Arkham Asylum.

I have a few criticisms, mostly minor, but since I'm playing at Standard difficulty (is that Medium? Not Very Easy or Easy), I felt that if you take your time with side missions, quests, etc. and don't rush through the main story... that by the time you get to the end, you're more than powerful enough to finish easily.

I had Nightwing at lvl 30 with two crafted pieces of Legendary gear. My reinforced armor made me near impenetrable and my ranged attacks did sick damage. Respawns weren't even part of the conversation.

Also I wish they had something like GTAV where you would do group missions (in solo mode) and you could switch between characters accordingly.

I used to feel that way before Saints Row broke me.
I will wait for a sale, but glad to see folks here are enjoying it despite the tepid/bad reviews. God of War Ragnarok comes out next week and will keep me busy for a long time until I can grab this cheaper at Black Friday or New Years.

Re: Gotham Knights (10/21/22)

I think that's probably the biggest criticism I can make: it's a bit of a grind of a starter. I wonder how far many reviewers played into it, because the game takes off and gets much more engaging as you go along.

do the movement controls get less clunky as you level up? i just started this and it feels like the momentum is slightly off, especially for an "arkham" game with more agile heroes.

That has been my problem, feeling like I cant get into a grove with the combat, post Arkham and Spider-Man.

The combat is definitely clunky, especially in a post God of War/Spiderman/Arkham world. It gets slightly better once you can start adding in gadgets and special moves. But it's still way more clunky than it should be for a 2022 game.

Re: Gotham Knights (10/21/22)

Wrapped up the story yesterday with all characters fully leveled, all abilities unlocked, and around 60hrs on the clock. I really enjoyed this game.

I played this on PC in 4k locked at 30fps and it looked really nice. I could tweak settings here and there to get more frames, but it looked, ran, and played great at 30.

I thought the combat was actually pretty good. Definitely a little sloppier than Arkham, but at the same time more similar to that combat style than I'd anticipated. The abilities do a lot to add variety to most encounters, although it is a pain in the ass when you spec towards a certain element that your target happens to be highly resistant to, and you've got to either tough it out to the end, or restart the mission entirely.

I bought this on sale a couple weeks ago for $25 and at that price it's a good deal, imo.

Re: Gotham Knights (10/21/22)

I just started playing this. Sticking with Batgirl. Combat is fun but damn the enemy a.i. is Forrest Gump level of dumb. Like I can go right up to one of the freaks , silent knock out while his partner is mere feet away and doesn't notice me?
