Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

So I finally finished the main game after over 70-80 hours. Can we talk about the ending (behind spoilers, of course)?
Spoiler:
I don't really get it. Yes it was shocking and not at all what I was expecting, but it didn't make sense to me either. Why would Anton do his son like that? He's been educating and protecting him the whole game. It just seems so out of character. It's supposed to be a downer ending but it's just left me bummed out and confused.
Also, how the hell does the military presence ELEVATE after the forces are defeated and their leader killed? That doesn't make any sense. I'm fine with there still being pro-Castillo factions out in the world, but at higher level of alertness? Nonsense

I am pleasantly surprised by the after-game though. Having weekly quests for unique rewards is a smart move. I got this week's goodie and will likely return for those often.

The clothing thing was particularly useless. Once I put on the fire set to escape the burning building, once the gas set to escape a gas-filling environment. Other than that I don't think I changed my outfit much at all. And after getting the final story reward set, I can't imagine using any of the others. Strangely my go-to gun was one of the very first ones I got, the unique shotgun the Supercharger, which does insane damage and can take out a special forces soldier with one shot, while also being silenced. It never left my loadout.

Totally agree on both counts. Did not like the ending at all, and the elevated forces only make sense in the context of wanting you to keep playing the game.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I liked the world they created in this, but I'm just not compelled to explore it like I am in, say, Valhalla or Odyssey.

They do give you some fun vehicles and toys to use in the world - it's like a playground, but just something is keeping it from being as fun as it should be - and I can't quite figure out why.

BTW, all 3 of the DLCs kinda suck - it's just the same thing in old locations, play until you die, rinse repeat - similar to a rough-like.

Did ya'll do the Rambo mission and get the bow with exploding arrow tips? It's one-shot for most helicopters and hella-fun.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

So I threw this back in last night (that's what she said) and played for hours....whatever past updates were installed turned this into an actual game now and I'm having a lot of fun.

Since I decided to do the Rambo mission (which by the way, if you buy the standard recurve below, I think it does more damage?) and made me laugh pretty good, especially with how the weather changed, that was outstanding.

Now, since I was already all the way on that side of the map, I started taking out all the military targets and air patrol cannons and a bunch of other stuff at the higher rank - I can't wait to go back and breeze through all the lower ran missions since doing so as well. This is also the first time I've ever
decided to play all the side stuff before the story missions as well.

With all that said, there was absolutely no reason to make this world as large it is. So much wasted area BUT, it's actually not too much of a complaint as I'm thankful for fast travel. I wonder, is this map bigger than RDR2's map?

Can't believe how much I like it now. The resolver weapons and supremo are pretty goofy but can definitely sometimes be satisfying to use for sure.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

So this game went from broken and unplayable to probably my best of the year.

I loved the story but unfortunately it lost a lot of points for the Woke shit portion. I really hope society snaps out of the woke phase soon - it's in all media.

At first I hated the large map size but then really ended up loving it - this is the largest game I've every played. Back when I first started playing when the game was broken, it didn't look anywhere near as good, so glad the updates after took care of this. It just feels like the world never gets old due to its size. I also like how you can feed random wild animals.

I view the ending as Castillo changing his mind due to desperation but I agree on the Military presence increasing - that makes zero sense.

To any newcomers - before starting the main story line ("operations") missions, take out a ton of Military checkpoints and FND bases to level yourself up quick - it will really make life easier.

Amigos were good but chicharron, as great as he is, is just too weak. Guapo's self revive is excellent and Oluso is awesome as well. Chorizo is just there for aesthetic cute purposes (and of course, it works).

There are some memorable main players as well, Philly (he was one of the best, wish there was more with him), Juan, and El Tigre.

Didn't care much for the 3 DLC's - I only completed Vaas insanity - it was cool to have him back but all three of these are just horde modes - they could have done so much more.

You definitely get your money out of this game and hope far cry remains a stand alone game - there are rumors that series is going to go the game as a service route.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

The game was never broken or unplayable. And it was never "fixed" like Cyberpunk was.
Like every Far Cry game it gets more enjoyable as you progress and start unlocking things.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I couldn't even complete a single mission when I first got it - the game would constantly lock and freeze on me - missions would even "skip ahead" and just say "Completed".

How do you know it was never broken or unplayable for me? Weird.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Your experience is your experience. But I took the liberty of going through this entire thread to see if anyone else described this game as broken or unplayable. None did. One had issues with bugs like a disappearing tank (I did as well). One encountered a glitch in the post game weekly Insurgency, one had a problem related to a forced update and Old Boy noted a problem with Quick Resume. But nobody else called it broken or unplayable or said they couldn't complete a single mission.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

They are now selling a $59.99 “Game of the Year” Upgrade Pass that has the Season Pass content and an all-new Expansion “Lost Between Worlds”.
No idea what that expansion is, but hopefully it provides some new content, unlike those three super-disappointing DLCs.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

This game looks amazing on the new consoles. For the first time I took Guapo with me swimming - he attacks the sharks and other predators that come after you but usually there end up being too many. I love chilling out in this game now that I play on the new consoles. I started new game + as well - love being overpowered on a second playthrough (and if you're wondering, you don't get all of your weapons until you meet Clara at her camp and none of your Amigos will be unlocked either but that didn't bother me - everything is unlocked).

The lost between worlds DLC is garbage, complete waste of 20 bucks, bland, boring, and uninspired. You can't even save your progress - you have to play through in one sitting - the game isn't good enough for that.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

How could they make every single DLC release for this game a shitty rogue like? I doubt that I will ever buy a Gold or Ultimate Edition for an Ubi game again at launch. Their DLC has gotten progressively worse with every new release.

This DLC is mind-boggling bad.

Wow, what a bummer.
For FC5 they did some original content that spun off of the main game. Nothing mind-blowing but at least it was still more Far Cry. All this DLC is Rouge-like. I don't want to play three hours at a time with perm-death. I certainly don't want all the DLC to be like that. If I wanted that kind of a game, I would have played that kind of a game. How hard is this to understand, Ubisoft?

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

The far Cry 4 DLC was actually fun...weird...but fun nonetheless. Some Mind-altering experience. I had a blast in FC4...what more can one ask for on co-op on Elephants with rocket launchers going around stomping on everything. I finished the main story in FV5...really liked it but I think there's some extra loose ends on it I can do...but I didn't do the DLC. the story and setting in it along with characters you had tag along was great. I did not get FC6...I really want to play and try this but I've heard a mixed bag on it. FC Games cry out for a true co-op experience but the way they have it set up for progression is a pain...Host gets it, friend doesn't.....

lol, I know. I'm all for doing things different but they just never make any sense. I LOVED New Dawn and was expecting the same type of DLC this time out BUT - I now think Fary Cry 6 is the best Far Cry game to date (yes, even over the beloved Vaas) and to be fair - a ton of work went into 6 and the game is massive. But yeah, if you're going to DLC, you have to do MUCH better than what they did this time out.
