Yes the tearing is terrible and I almost never notice tearing.
I am okay with clothing perks which kind of function like a skill tree. But the different ammo and such is just bullshit and ruin things like having a great sniper rifle but it can either shoot out bullet proof windows or kill with a single head shot, but not both. If you want to do both in a single mission you have to swap out properly equipped guns, which isn't fun at all.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

This is the first FC since 4 that I’ve really enjoyed, and may very well be the first one I’ve actually beat.

I prefer having a skill tree to item perks, and I’m not a fan of the ammo types either. I really only used the rocket launcher backpack, which is hugely helpful to take out helicopters, but I mostly forgot I had it and rarely used it.

This is the first game in nearly 10 years that I’ve played on something larger than a 27” monitor (upgraded to a 43” 4k tv for my office desk) and holy shit, game fidelity has sure improved over the years. Honestly a night and day difference. Aside from the noticeable tearing, this is a stunning game.

And landing headshots on armored enemies, seeing the helmet just explode, is crazy satisfying.

Yeah, it seems like there are weapons and throwables that'll generally do the same thing as whatever the Supremos do (poison, EMP, yadda yadda), and the healing pack didn't mean much for me in single-player, so I almost never used anything other than the rocket-pack or the shoot-enemies-through-walls-X-ray-vision Supremo.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Firing off the EMP Suprimo immediately when you initially arrive at a base takes out all the security cameras and alarms. Makes the game a hell of a lot easier. Then I switch to the rocket launcher one.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Ha! That never occurred to me. I only used the EMP Supremo to take down a couple of helicopters; otherwise, I just used EMP grenades (almost entirely on tanks).

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Finished this up and mostly enjoyed it, despite the headaches I mentioned. I pretty much settled in to an upgraded bow & scoped rifle with armor piercing bullets for most of the combat, pulling out the flame thrower and emp cannon as needed.

I noticed that when I was playing initially, using the emp cannon on aircraft would cause them to crash and explode, but for the past several days, it’s just caused them to float to the ground unharmed. Since I deleted and reinstalled, I’m guessing that’s something they screwed up with an update and not a bug particular to my playthrough.

Now I’m getting the flickering weapon wheel bug. Fun times.

Beat the game and felt the game play was almost too easy and FC 5 was a much better storyline. Still have all the treasure hunts to do but doubt I’ll spend time finishing those

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

It defitniely gets better thankfully as you move along and I do like the third person view while your at your safe camps. I'm guessing most of these games are going to switch from first person view to thrid person view to get more people to spend money on micro-transactions so they can see the clothes they buy for their character.

Combat needs an overhaul and the driving is REALLY bad this time out but surprisingly. Riding on a horse is a lot of fun.

Game was obviously released incomplete and I'm hoping they fix a lot.

Vaas DLC comes out this week. Sounds interesting. Certainly more challenging.

^^ Agreed. I can't imagine what Ubi is thinking but if they are doing subscription based gaming going forward, I'm out. EVERYBODY is pulling this shit; I'm already over-subscribed on streaming services (no pun intended).

Does every loading screen have to have Vaas on it?

They can no longer just make a good game and charge a single price for it! No more "one and done"! They have to create a "service" people will keep paying you money for. Doesn't matter if they sold the game to everyone, they have to increase revenue quarter after quarter!
They gotta monetize and create value of shareholders!

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I played the Vaas Insanity DLC this weekend and had a blast. LOVED it. At first I was not a big fan of the "roguelite" aspect, but it definitely ratchets up the tension. It's a bit like Dark Souls/Bloodborne, but there are enough ways around it to make it not even remotely as frustrating. You have to do the three main battles in one sitting, but they weren't that bad--really struck the right balance between not too easy and not too difficult. Definitely recommend this one.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Good to hear. I haven't played it since I have so much of the main game left to do. But nice to know it came out well.
The pistol that comes with the DLC is awesome though! It seems to self-aim the ammo.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I don't know what it is but I just can't get into this one and I loved 4 and 5. I got off the first island like 2 weeks ago and I just haven't felt like picking the game up again. Something just feels off with it and I can't put my finger on it.

I also detest the auto saving. A couple of times it has really screwed me over.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I beat the main story a couple days ago. Loved it, just as fun as the other FC games I've played (everything since 3). I bought the season pass and will hit up the DLC next.

One thing I DIDN'T like was the Special Ops missions where you have to transport the PG-240 that can explode. I tried one mission a couple times, got really frustrated without the ability to use a map, and gave up. Only thing I didn't do

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

It's a huge game. I am almost 70 hours in and haven't finished the main game yet. But I am so overpowered that I almost never die except when I am being extra careless. Between the Black Puma pet, the La Verada weapon pared with the Triador Supermo (which allows you to identify and shoot everyone in a fortress while standing outside of it) and the Zuesito whose EMP shots bring down helicopters and disables tanks with a single shot, there's little challenge left.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Ugh, I'm really, really, really, trying to get into this game. You would think it would be easy with names involved like Giancarlo and Trejo but this game is so damn broken. I was excited that I finally go the notification to go meet Trejo but the mission was so stupid...."Keep the enemies back while I cook these tacos" - so eye rolling stupid.

The game just feels so incomplete to me and lame - I get a headache playing it as well. I'm going to tough it out though.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

I mean that mission is free DLC added after launch. I don't think it's a fair example of the game as a whole, which has a lot of fun and imaginative missions.

I don't at all think the game is broken, but the screen tearing is something awful and that can give me a headache.

I am disappointed that both of the released DLCs are rogue likes. I don't want to have to start all over every time I die. I was okay with one DLC pack being like that but it's disappointing that Pagan Min is the same.

Re: Far Cry 6 (10/7/21)

Well, I do mean overall as well. Example, when doing one of the missions to torch the field, the enemy AI was both stupid and dead on - couldn't figure out where the hell shots were coming from and the guns are so underpowered and inaccurate (even after multiple bench visits) I ran out of ammo. Then a chopper came and I literally couldn't find any ammo laying around. I ran forever (was surprised I didn't get an out of bounds warning) then, out of nowhere with the chopper right in my face.....a message pop-ups saying "Mission completed" WTF???

The game just feels so sloppy. The missions are all the same and feel pointless.

Agree on both counts. Loved the main game, never once felt "broken" to me, and I even enjoyed the Vaas DLC, but I was not looking for another one like it. Probably will pass.
