It really is better than expected. My only problem is that my controller seems to have a bad A button so while I'm holding it down, I'll randomly ollie. Sucks.

I remapped A to a different button and it seems to be working fine. Really sucks that A isn't working as intended... Will have to see if MS will fix/replace it, since it's an Elite 2 controller

Well, Microsoft done fucked up.
when I sent my Elite 2 controller in, there were explicit instructions to ensure all the little bits and pieces were not included, because they would only be sending back the main body of the controller. So what did they do?
They sent me a brand new one, still sealed, so now I have duplicates of everything except the actual controller.
Anyway, hopefully I can get back into THPS when I'm done with Spider-Man.

Finally grabbed this today. It was $30 at Walmart for Black Friday so I bit. Anyways, I’m very rusty at playing. Haven’t played a ton yet though so hopefully I’ll get the hang of it more as I go. Game looks really good though.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2021-01-22-vicarious-visions-merged-into-blizzard
Activision Blizzard has moved its Vicarious Visions studio from the Activision side of the business to the Blizzard side.
The publisher today told GamesIndustry.biz that effective today, it is merging Vicarious Visions into Blizzard Entertainment.
Going forward, the Vicarious Visions team of about 200 people will be employees of Blizzard and "fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives," which means the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 studio will no longer be creating games as the lead developer.
"After collaborating with Vicarious Visions for some time and developing a great relationship, Blizzard realized there was an opportunity for [Vicarious Visions] to provide long-term support," a representative explained to us. They declined to specify what the team has been working on with Blizzard, or for how long.
As part of the move, Vicarious Visions studio head Jen Oneal has been promoted to Blizzard executive vice president of development, where she joins the company's leadership team and will report directly to Blizzard president J. Allen Brack.
Oneal is being replaced in the Vicarious Visions studio head role by Simon Ebejer, who previously served as chief operating officer for the studio.
Vicarious Visions was acquired by Activision in 2005 and has worked on many of the publisher's biggest franchises over the years, including Guitar Hero, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Crash Bandicoot, Destiny, Skylanders, and Call of Duty.
The studio will remain in Albany, New York.

Re: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remake - 9/4/20 (One, PS4, PC)
Coming to the Switch, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5 later this year!
Skateboard fans get ready to do a kickflip all over again when the critically acclaimed Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 1 and 2 makes its way to PlayStation® 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 26 and lands on Nintendo Switch™ for the first time in 2021. The upcoming, next-gen versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will give players a variety of upgrades, such as super crisp 120 FPS at 1080P, native 4K at 60 FPS1, spatial audio and more, while the game on Nintendo Switch™ will give fans the chance to ollie with Tony Hawk and the line-up of pro-skaters on-the-go.
High-fidelity atmospherics will be added to the next-gen upgrade for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. This unique graphical feature will allow players to enjoy the experience of sharper dynamic shadows, reflections and lens flares, as well as enhanced skater textures and more on next-gen consoles.
Digital players can upgrade to the Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle with all the added features for an additional $10 SRP. The upgrade includes access to the secret skater Ripper (a.k.a. the infamous Powell-Peralta mascot), retro gear for Create-A-Skater mode, and retro skins for Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero and Rodney Mullen. Additionally, Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) is giving fans who already own the digital deluxe version of the game on PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One a next-gen upgrade at no cost (except in Japan) on March 26. See www.tonyhawkthegame.com/upgrade for upgrade details.

The way I read that quote above, you need the Deluxe Edition to get the free next-gen upgrade? I clicked on the link provided, but my server blocked the link as suspicious.
Edit : Confirmed at Push Square. You need to spend $10 for the otherwise-useless Deluxe Upgrade to get the next-gen upgrade

I was actually surprised by how much better the PC version looked than the Xbox One version, so this should be a pretty nice update.

I probably would have bought it for Switch if I had known it would get a release. Already have it for Xbox One though.

I wonder why the Xbox One disc version is not eligible for the upgrade. And is the PC version getting anything new?

I don't think there's anything to really add to the PC version, unless they felt like adding some new skaters. It already has the "Fidelity FX" sharpening built-in, as well as HDR.

Okay, you were ahead of me there, Drexl. You will be able to upgrade the disc version of TPS 1& 2 on the PS4 version but indeed NOT on the Xbox One version. No explanation. Very weird. That sucks for those who bought the game that way.

Anyone else grab the next-gen version? I paid the ten bucks yesterday to get the upgrade. However, the improved graphics haven't helped me land any tricks. I didn't have much problem playing these games over 20 years ago. I can't say the same thing these days.

Oddly I feel the same way. I was way better at these games on N64 and PS1/PS2. Granted I haven’t played a whole ton of the new version (I have it on Xbox One), but I do feel like landing tricks is slightly harder. It could just be that I’m out of practice though. I can do board grinds easily, but other tricks I seem to struggle to catch the landing.

A majority of the time I feel like I'm a split second away from landing good tricks but nothing I try differently changes the outcome. The only ones I can land with any kind of consistency score 1,000 points or less, which is never going to get you anywhere in this game.

I don’t know if it’s a glitch or something but I had previously paid the $10 to upgrade the disc version from PS4 to PS5 Deluxe edition. Well anyway I saw a Free version on the PS store the other day and I grabbed it. Now I can play the PS5 version without entering a disc any more and for a pick up and play game like this, that’s very convenient.
