Crysis Remastered (XB1, PS4, Switch, PC; 9/18/20)

Crytek has officially announced Crysis Remastered for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This means the remasters is the first Crysis game to appear on a Nintendo console.

Co-developed by Saber Interactive, Crysis Remastered features improved graphics and optimizations for current-gen consoles. This includes high-quality textures, improved art assets, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, and particle effects (where applicable). There will even be software-based ray tracing.

There's no release date yet for Crysis Remastered but the trailer says that it will be 'coming soon.'

re: Crysis Remastered (XB1, PS4, Switch, PC; 9/18/20)

Played the 1 & 2 and they were quite fun....Crysis 1 released in 2007 set the bar along with the game that pushed the limits of back-then PC's...it wasn't so much you wanted to play the game but it was more of a challenge of if your PC could handle it....I played the 2011 version for the 360 and it was...ok...but looked no-where like the PC and actually got toned down to accommodate visuals but gameplay was just a blast with that Nano-Suit.....

It would be interesting to see how this looks and plays on the PS4 and XB now...since even back with the 360 and PS3 they had limitations. It would be almost a no-brainer and worth it if they put all three Crysis Games or at least 1 & 2 in a bundle.

Aside from Crysis pushing PC boundaries, the thing I best remember is even the lowest level grunts in the game could spot you from 2 clicks, in the densest of foliage and snipe your ass with a pistol or semi-auto. I found that gaming incredibly frustrating.

I loved this series and played through them all.

Having said that, the first game almost to the end had a level where you had to fly a craft down a canyon avoiding tornados and what not. The controls on this were so broken that it almost made me quit the game. This is the one thing that needs more attention than anything else in a remaster. Now all we need is remasters of Far Cry 1-3.

Wow! That looked awesome. I have all 3, but if price is right I will dl this. Too bad no preorder up yet except for Switch. Which seems odd...

Never played the first and that's looking gorgeous so I might be down.

I loved 2 but 3 was a letdown after how great 2 was.

Re: Crysis Remastered (XB1, PS4, Switch, PC; 9/18/20)

after playing a bit more, i'm not too impressed. i think i played 2 on 360 for some reason first, but remembering liking way better. i mean without the sprint which lasts a few seconds you run at a crawl in original. it's frustrating to keep starting fast and then stopping. not to mention cloak and walking at a crawl bc if you sprinted it would use energy that contributes to cloak and you can't keep that on too long. just bad overall design imo.

also, really doesn't feel "remastered". the character models still very much look last gen. i don't know what it looked like actually on 360, but i don't see anything to wild about this remastering. nothing glorious about water over or under, the bush and foliage. maybe better on Series X and 60fps or whatever, but i doubt bc i don't think this game is optimized for it.

and i guess this is more duck and cover game bc if there are like 4 North Koreans shooting at you, you can die in seconds. and you really got to play with weapon wheel. the defaults are terrible for guns equipped. got to go in and change defaults to much better sights and no flashlight which was so annoying. i didn't even know how to turn off until i looked it up.
