I have a copy of it still and was thinking of giving it another try this Summer. I watched some retro gamers on Twitch play it and it looks dated, but plays the same.

I have to remind myself it is a 20 year old game.

Happy Turkey Day!

This year, as a thank you, Franklin will give you the recipes he made.

Giving him the special ingredients gives you a lot more DIY’s, including Turkey Day furniture.

Yeah, I just wish it wasn’t the same stuff as last year.

At least the ingredients were different this year. He asked for carrots and flour this time around. Those weren’t available previously.

I got this game and my Switch for the first time the week after Thanksgiving. So this was all new to me.

👍🏼 No worries. I hope you enjoyed Turkey Day!

There are two flavors of items depending on the hemisphere you’re in. Since I’m Southern Hemisphere, I’ve got the “Spring” version.

I’m sure Cryus can customize it either way.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20/20: Switch)

I played it somewhat recently about 3 years ago. You can use a gameshark to unlock all the NES games. Also if you can find an old GBA you can hook it up to the GC and visit Kappa's Island. It's the best way to farm for bells. I forgot what the trick is though. The main thing I miss is how easy it was to have a second town. You just needed another memory card and plugging two in to visit someone else's town was a lot of fun too.

edit: whoops didn't see there was a whole page of newer comments. This was in response to playing the GC version again.

I just got that same island today! So I guess the islands aren't randomly made but actually prebuilt and determined? I wonder how many types there are? It was really cool having star fragments coming out of a rock.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20/20: Switch)

Last night before bed, I went on a Kapp'n tour and while we were traveling, I got a notification that Animal Crossing updated. I thought I was all caught up... oh well, I tore the island apart and dropped the stuff off in the Nookling's little box and went to bed.

I get up this morning, grab the Switch and flip on Animal Crossing (a ritual to dig up the Gyroid and see what I have), and I leave my house my phone rings as usual. It's Tommy telling me I have more bells in the bank.

Then my phone rings again and it's Tom Nook asking me to come to the airport to meet a friend of his and to come right away.

Circle fade from my house to the airport and there's Tom Nook with Lottie.

Note, I have not downloaded the DLC nor am I signed up for the Expansion on the Family Cloud Service.

Anyways, Nook introduces me to Lottie and says that I should work for her.

I say no.

He says it'll be good for me and that it will help my creativity.

I still say no.

He pleads a third time and Lottie pipes in and says I can try it out and if I don't like it they'll make an arrangement.

The only options I have are "I'll do it..." and "I guess I'll give it a try..." and that's it.

I choose the later and they get excited and tell me there will be an option with the Dodos to "Go to work" next time I wanna take a flight.

Thanks for not giving me a choice in the DLC Nook-tendo.

For the record, my wife and I have no real interest in the DLC until the academic year is over and we're considering getting the DLC in May.

I think it's pretty weird.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Note: My wife's Switch Lite has not pulled this on her yet.

Just don’t choose the go to work option and you’re fine.

That's what I figured.

Has this happened to anyone else who hasn't bought the DLC?

That’s pretty messed up they force you to I guess try it out? Go over there and be the worst employee ever. Make them regret it.

Sounds like a good option.

Noticed yesterday that my title screen has little house icon next to the version number. Curious.

Yeah, the house icon is for those who bought HHP DLC. But you didn’t buy it, so I’m not sure what’s up with that.

Goldberg74 Did you subscribe to the Switch Online Expansion by any chance? The game is acting like you own the DLC already.

If I go to the eShop on my Switch, it says that the DLC is “purchased.”

If I go to Nintendo Online and look at my subscription status, it says that I have the Family Plan with no Expansion Pass.

If I go to my order history online, there is no listing that it’s ever been purchased by me.

This is really strange.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20/20: Switch)

Talked to my married son in college (who is on my NO Family Plan) and he bought it the other day but hadn't downloaded it yet.

He bought it through his Nintendo Account, but somehow it ended up on mine.

The online store is tricky. I recommended an Indy Game to him last week and when he went on his Switch to get it, it said it was purchased. But if he wen to Nintendo's website, he could get it there. I'm still not sure how purchasing games when in a Family Plan works (we all have individual Nintendo IDs).

Now I just hope that he can download it.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20/20: Switch)

I got the Star Island from Kapp'n's boat tours again on Sunday. My wife got it that same night as well.

I wished on about 50 stars... and in the hour that I scoured my beach yesterday, I only picked up around 20 star pieces, some large pieces, and a few Sagittarius pieces.

Same here a few days ago. Yeah, my beach was filled with them the next morning and was mostly collecting them all day. Today I ended up on a cherry blossom island. not much on there though, except to get the pedals in addition to the usual stuff.

Same with snowflakes on the Winter Island, the leaves on the Fall Island, and summer shells on the Summer Island. All four seasons are covered.
