Here's an interesting piece about the concerns with how the second local player is stuck playing a fast more passive experience in the game. I think it's worth reading as there's good points made.
Ultimately, for me, it's probably better that my daughter's character can't take a more active role on the island/story. She's still just figuring out the basics and isn't too interested in the progression beyond replacing her tent and earning enough bells to buy stuff, so I'm actually ok with it for now. If that changes, we'll have to figure something out, but I don't think she should need to have her own Switch and her own copy of the game.

Yes, if I had a family, this would have been a tougher purchase. As I and my girlfriend each have our own Switches, this worked out well for us. I can't imagine managing this situation with children involved. It's just another one of the things Nintendo just refuses to not be shitty about.

Thanks so much for the fruits (I didn't even now there were coconuts) and bamboo Spainlinx0. Your island is so much further along than mine, you have a very nice setup.
I would have left more than one iron nugget in appreciation, but I only just got enough today to get the store started. I don't seem to be as lucky as others getting those.

I have been playing this since the first installment so it’s easier to know about these things. The bamboo and coconuts I got from the Nook Miles island tickets you buy at the kiosk for 2k miles. You should check out those to build up your iron. Their rocks seem to be generous with the iron many times. The fun is in the discovery. The little surprises along the way make this game fun.

I've been getting a ton of presents flying over the island. I popped at least 4 yesterday and got 2 gold nuggets.

Oh, and if you plant those coconuts, they will only grow on the beach.

I assume the campground unlocks after the store gets built? I am anxious to invite a few of my favorite villagers from my town in New Leaf that I have Amiibo cards for.

Campground? I’m supposed to be getting an upgrade to Nooks little tent tomorrow, but I never had Amiibo stuff for this so I’m not sure about that.

I could be mistaken, but I thought it was a campground that you needed to be able to invite villagers through the ATM.

Don't forget to check the list of fish that will go away come April 1st! Not too many for northern hemisphere players.

Is there a good list somewhere? Everyone seems to just be using prior games, but I thought this game is supposed to have some new fish. Also, I'm waiting for a good iOS catalog app. The ones I have seen all just are doing the same thing with rehashing old catalogs with no knowledge of new stuff.

Bunny Day sounds fun. I'll make sure my daughter's account has progressed enough to have a good shovel (should be in the next day or two), so she can participate. I think she'll love it.

Finally saw the ghost tonight
And wow, those blue Emperor Butterflies were out in force this evening probably caught over 50 of them before the flowers started closing up $$$.
Also visited Harv's Island tonight, I don't really get the point that one. Just a place to take pictures?

I caught two tarantulas tonight. I donated the first one and sold the second for 8,000 bells. Must have been bit 20 times just to catch the 2.

I finally caught two tarantulas and didn't get bit once. I just walked right up and snagged them with my net. They didn't even move just sat up on their hind legs.

They do that before they run at you. The way to get them is to wait till they raise their legs, take a few steps closer till they do it again, and repeat. They'll never move if you do it right.
Or set up a group of holes in the ground that you can run behind. They'll just go in circles in front of the holes trying to get to you.

Going by the lists online of fish and bugs the only fish I haven't caught yet are (Popeyed Goldfish, Bluegill, Tuna, and Barreleye). The only bugs are (Peacock Butterfly and Ant). They had another inventory extension item up at the Nooks Miles shop today so now I can hold 40 items in my inventory.

Got to the tarantula island last night.
That place was nuts, there were 4 of them (and they respawned after I captured one) crawling around a smallish land space totally surrounded by a thin river/moat. I don't really have a problem catching 1, but with the other 3 lingering around in that same area, I got bit quite a bit (one would strike while catching another).
I filled up all the space I had in my inventory and ended up with $280,000 bells worth of them for the trip.

I still haven't been able to get an apple. It's the one fruit that has evaded me. I have been able to grow a ton of hybrid flowers though. That's one of my favorite things to do. I only have the Barreleye left for fish I need to catch. Those must be incredibly rare. I have caught 5 or 6 coelecanths, but not one of these guys. It rains on my island pretty frequently.
My girlfriend is freaking out because she only caught one stringfish, and then she accidentally sold it. She has been trying to catch one nonstop before they go away on the 1st. The AC gods are being remarkably stingy with them.
Anyone have good turnip prices today? I bought about 400k worth Sunday at 106.
