I'm not very far yet, but I really dislike the color scheme. The tutorial area was so bland.

After playing so much in the “long autumn/winter” that was BotW, this “cheery spring/summer” that is TotK is kind of nice… but as soon as you hit the ground, you’ll be met with the same drabness and long for the brightness of the skies. 😉

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I've spent basically all time time just running around. I have the glider, that's about as far in the story as I've gotten. Decided to jump down some hole and spent at least an hour exploring the underground and avoiding enemies that were much stronger than me.

To be honest, I'm already sick of doing the shrines. Not a fan of those coming back, even if they're more interesting than the ones in Breathe.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

Bought this last Saturday, so far liking it. This is my first Zelda game that I am actually playing after SNES Link to the Past (which I have not finished yet). I've spent more time cooking stuff than actually trying to get somewhere.

This is not my kind of game and I'll never get it, but I never miss Zelda threads. It's awesome how people are playing it all kind of different ways already.

Fun to stumble upon a boss and be like I am gonna fight this guy, only to die 10x and say fuck it.

I picked this up and thought I would finish BOTW real quick before diving in, but I've basically forgotten everything about that game: location, controls, etc. Complete suckage.

I was that way too. Had a save and I was like nope. I can’t even fight a weak enemy right. I probably won’t even start Tears until next month.

This, Hogwarts, and Elden Ring. Billions in sales, zero microtransactions or "live service" offerings. Love to see it.

It's almost like people prefer complete action adventure games. Neat.

I am barely making progress in this game. My quest right now is to cook as many peppers as I get my hands on. Also many deaths caused by trying out climbing and jumping around, and see how far I can dive, swim, etc.

just an hour into it
picked it up today
yeah I need major practice on ultrahand
so far my biggest challenge is travel
island to island is confusing.
I beat the first shrine but have no idea how to get to the next one.

For anyone looking for a physical copy, it’s $50 at HSN (free shipping through at least today) with the coupon code GFRIENDS.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I think this game is well made, but I'm finding it tedious to play. I will wait to see how I feel once finishing all 3 shrines.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

Finished my first temple (Wind). I know they said this game has large dungeons unlike Breathe but this one was not. Just a ship in the air where you have to activate a bunch of turbines. Boss fight was fun though. I wish the world was a bit smaller. I know travel will be easier when I have more access to machines but going anywhere new is a slog since you won't have any fast travel points open yet.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I'm liking it a lot, but I barely get to play as my son has been hogging the game. Finally beat the wind temple this weekend. Not much of a dungeon, but the boss fight was cool.
