Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I was so scared about my CE not arriving promptly tomorrow made me double dip. I bought it digital a couple days back and pre-loaded. I might sell the CE sealed or sell the game and keep the rest.

Of course that'd be the first thing somebody crafted in the game.

I still have my $20 gift card but still $50 is a bit high, even for Zelda

I mean if this game isn't worth full price, no game is.

The Treehouse Live event is on right now and there’s no story stuff being talked about but the things they are building a kinda cool.

Not “flame throwing phallus” cool, but cool enough.

Just saw this randomly, haven't used the site and I'm not getting the game. From googling around it seems like a legit shop.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I just got done playing it. I'd give it a 5/10. I'm not impressed.

I'm kidding

Actually I just started BotW again. Never finished it, got maybe 25% through six years ago and stopped playing. I did purchase TotK with the Switch voucher deal (Thanks Decker) but it'll be on the shelf (literally) for awhile before I even start it up.

$50 too high.. lol

Right now I have:

CE Walmart arriving tomorrow - $130
CE Best Buy for in store pick up (next week?!) - $130
Regular Gamestop with preorder bonus stupid wood plank - $70
Regular Best Buy with preorder bonus stupid art print - $70
Majora's Mark Amiibo Best Buy - $16
TotK Amiibo Best Buy - $16
Ocarina of Time Amiibo Amazon - $16
Toon Link Amiibo Target - $30
Pro Controller Best Buy - $75
Pro Controller Target - $75

Going to try to pick up in store tomorrow
CE Target for stupid hip pack bonus - $130
=$758

...Now I won't end up with all this. I'll keep one CE hopefully at Target with 5% off and the hip pack. I'll keep the GS preorder regular edition and give it to my brother for his birthday. Sans preorder bonus . I'll keep all the Amiibo as I missed out on a lot of those. I might not even end up with any pro controller. Still debating on if I need one or not. I'm not lacking in controllers. FOMO and the general rabbidness of Zelda fans has me ordering when available and I'll either just not pick it up or return what I don't need when the dust settles.

I do wish I got in on the Walmart banner preorder bonus. It looks pretty cool

Anyone know what the policy is if you return the game without the preorder bonus?

To top it all off I'm not even going to be playing it for a long time. Still playing through BotW. That's a long ass game. I already have 150 hours in to it. Finally beat the devine beasts now just have Gannon. Or blight gannon or whatever they are calling him.

if you still have your BotW save on your console, you'll be able to use any horses you had tamed from that game.

Drat. My old save is on my OG Switch and I’ll be playing TOTK on my OLED Switch. Guess I better move it over.

And this game is never going to be 20 bucks so may as well buy it now.

Speedrunners are already beating it in under 2 hours.

I guess it's another case of being able to go right to the final fight, like with Breathe.

Drats!
I played BotW on the WiiU, not Switch - and I put A LOT of hours into it!

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I'm going to start this weekend. I explore and finish and do every last little thing in a game like this. So I probably won't be finishing it for several months.

Glad to see it's mostly 10's everywhere. Part of me thought it was going to be an inferior extension of Breath of the Wild.

I say it every year but I never do it - I really need to get back into Nintendo games.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

It sounds like I need to play the Breath of the Wild. I've owned it for a couple years, but never go around to playing it. It sounds like it and Tears are amazing.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

As long as you keep your expectations right yeah, BotW is fantastic. But it's also nothing like any Zelda before it, which is one reason its so divisive.

I will admit I miss action oriented dungeons, but I thought BotW was great - and I normally dislike openworld games.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

This game is beautiful… in its own way.

And I’m maybe an hour into it.

(It’s a different kind of beautiful when compared to the Horizon series.)

My 14yo stayed up all night so he’s got around 10 hours into it already.

The pediatrician in me feels the need to tell you that's not a good idea for teenagers. Make him or her go to bed. Game's not going anywhere overnight.

Thanks, Decker, and rightfully so.

He told me fell asleep around 3am and woke up around 10am (he started his game about 10pm).He’s had breakfast, done his chores, and is now playing again.

(I left the house just after posting that post and got back around Noon.)

Strong Scooby Doo Vibes from the opening but the villain is already cooler that Calamity Ganon ever was.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

This game really deserves to be on more powerful hardware. We are enjoying it, but the rough edges pop up when playing it on a tv.
