That looks amazing. I liked much of BOTW, but hated having my weapons break all the time. This looks like while weapons still break, that's no longer a concern. Very happy to see this. Also has some Banjo and Kazooie Nuts & Bolts vibes, which is fine by me.

When that happened, this movie sprang to mind…

… water shouldn’t be able to slow a fall at that speed. 😉

I went ahead and pre-ordered the system since I never upgraded to an OLED so I was due.

Nice. I upgraded with the Splatoon 3 one and don't regret it at all. Feels like a much better and larger screen (even if it's only slightly larger in reality).

Looked at trading in but damn the prices for trade in on the OG ones are awful. I rarely use the portability but I am going to Amsterdam in June so maybe i do upgrade.

But I did preorder Zelda.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

Finally snagged a pre-order for the collectors edition and the console. Not sure If I'll keep the preorder for the console though. Even though there's still a lot of life left in the system it is nearing the end of it's life so a whole other system seems excessive. Or maybe I pick it up and sit on it for awhile. I have a Zelda 3DS that's gone up in value quite nicely.

Look forward to it. Wish there was a Zelda world MMO.

Not wild about Zelda's voice, but otherwise I am really impressed. Looks pretty epic.

Lol. I cancelled it since I never play in portable mode so I was buying it just for the looks and I've got other things I would rather spend almost $400 on.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

It took me less than 50 hours to do most of everything in Breath of the Wild so I doubt this game is going to be much more than that. The only people I see taking more than are the people just doing sandbox stuff or speed running.

Yeah, that's what I mean - they've made a great sandbox that I want to tool around in and explore every nook and cranny.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

IGN got to play it. Here's one of their videos. Looks like what I expected. Breath of the Wild, plus sky islands and a few new gameplay options like building items and combining weapons (basically a variation on cooking).

Not seeing much else talked about. Some big surprises would be cool. But I think I know what to expect and think it's mostly going to be more BotW.

Still feeling the hype. Must play.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

You know, whenever I'm playing a game that does NOT have breakable weapons, never ever do I think to myself; "you know what would make this game better... breakable weapons!"

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

I agree. But it still works here for some reason. Definitely adds a layer of complexity and adds a reason to explore to find more weapons. I just wish there was some kind of weapons storage because juggling weapons you want to keep is annoying. It also prevented me from really using the weapons I wanted to. But I guess that's kind of the point anyways.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)

Sigh. I was REALLY hoping they would get rid of the breakable weapons thing. I loathe that aspect of the first one. Will still end up playing this, but it's not a day one purchase for me.

The breakable weapons thing never bothered me in the first so I don't assume it'll have much impact on my enjoyment here either.

The fact that you can continuously strengthen your weapon and make new ones with fusion completely changes that dynamic from the last game.

I think I'm more interested in the story/lore than I am the gameplay at this point.
