Lol, did anybody finish BOTW? I got really far - I think I stopped at what had to have been 95% finished. I liked it, though. I only stopped playing because my only Switch controller was the Pro and it got really bad drift, making every game unplayable. I do have a replacement generic one now, but I haven't really gotten back to the Switch for a while
I was still exploring, and I thought I'd explore a bit of the final castle, but hold off doing most of it, and save it for later after I've gotten through more of the game, but then I just sorta stumbled on Gannon, and easily beat him. Game over, and I didn't really go back to explore what I may have missed. Oh well. LOL.

I finished it by accident.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch; 5/12/23)
I did! I don't remember what my total playtime was, but it was north of 100 hours for sure. I'm pretty sure I did everything there is to do aside from collecting all the seeds.
I have mixed feelings about BotW, and the thunderous tidal waves of praise invariably lavished at the game feel kind of alien to me, but overall I'd say I really enjoyed it. In keeping with my minority opinions, I actually liked the breakable weapons, which added some tension to battles and pushed me into switching up my play-style. I'm very much the type of person who settles on a loadout I like and rarely, if ever, change it, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed being pushed out of my comfort zone. But yeah, all other things equal, I'd much rather have a smaller but more tightly designed open world.

I played the game religiously for the first year, got to the door of Hyrule castle knocked on it but never went in… I didn’t want the game to end so I set it down and forgot about it. It’s been about 3 1/2 years since I played it last, I think that sometime this spring I’ll pick it up again and start fresh and finish it before the next one comes out.
I had completed every shrine, found way too many Korok seeds, upgraded a ton of armor, and had a nice stockpile of weapons. About a month ago I watched my son finish the game for a friend who was having trouble with it. So I’ve seen the final boss battle and part of the closing story but not all of it.
I still loved playing it and look forward to the sequel. It’s kinda cool that it comes out just after the semester ends and just before my birthday. Day one purchase for me.

This might be a $69.99 game, judging by the eShop price and existing preorder listings vanishing.

I mean, if N is greedy enough to charge $60 for 10 year old ports, they may as well charge $70 for all new content.

It'll be one of the only games out there worth a full $70. Fewer and fewer games are "Complete" experiences anymore and already going for that price.

I'm sure it will be worth it in terms of story and overall gameplay but Nintendo is basically pulling an Ubisoft with this one. Take the same game engine and mechanics as your last open world game and slap a new story over it. Except it's taking them years longer to spit out the sequel compared to Ubi.

I haven't read enough about it - does it mimic Breath of the Wild pretty closely including locales and dungeon/puzzle/whatever the fucks?

It adds sky islands to the mix but the engine is the same. Climbing mechanic looks the same from the footage we've seen as well.
I'm not knocking it. I'll buy it day one and enjoy it at $70 but I find it interesting how this hasn't received some of the same criticism as AC games. Maybe just because that franchise has used the formula for far more than 2 games.

Hoping that they'll let you use the $50 voucher on this. Doesn't make a ton of sense to sell those (and say more games will be added) if that one wasn't going to be allowed.
We should know a lot more this afternoon.

Glad I was right about this. Bought two more vouchers. Will almost certainly pick up Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars 1 & 2 as well. For $45 each, it's such a great deal

I was always sorry and it still sticks with me that I never finished whatever the latest one on Gamecube was before it went bye bye. I mean I still could play it but I don’t think I’d get into it as I did. Although, I do love the Wavebird and still have both the controller and system. Best controller ever in my opinion. But, I was loving the game. Twilight Princess I think was the have.

I preordered the game and the Amiibo from Best Buy. I had a $20 reward just sitting there, so I used it. This is going to be a birthday present to myself. Glad its coming out a week after the semester ends.

Crafting weapons and vehicles and whatnot is going to give us soooo many options on how to do things.
I can't wait to see what the speed runners do with this.
It wasn't a lot of game play but I am excited to try things out.
Still wish we had a bit more to go on with the story, but I'm there Day 1.
