Quick resume is a total game changer. I always wanted something like this as I like to hop out of a long game for a quick racing game or anything that just takes a short bit of time
Also really cool to be able to turn the series x on with my phone.. That would come in handy if i buy a game and have it start downloading while im at work. Can i do that far away from the system?

It’s especially nice if you like physical copies of games but hate the time it takes to install and then download patches; you can do all that before ever inserting a disc.

Yes. In fact, you can use the app (anywhere you are) to download a game that you don’t even own!

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20
I’ve played Broken Sword 5, and it was the most ridiculous combination of find-the-pixel plus completely-non-intuitive-puzzler I’ve ever seen. I had to Google every single puzzle because it was like “coax the cricket to light a match and crawl into the can in order to melt the candle and unlock the box.” Completely absurd.
In other news, MSFT finally emailed me a unique Series X purchase link like I got for the PS5 a while ago. It was bundle only, so I would’ve had to have bought a game and a controller (I already had a second one) so it would’ve been over $700. I already have a console so I passed.

Sad day. Rest in peace, Xbox 360. My DVD drive finally gave up the ghost and no amount of multimeter-guided potentiometer tweaks could get it to realize a disc is there. Open Tray4lyfe

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20
when you have many things moving from storage to other storage (like 40+), does that impact game performance at all? i know it impacts speed of download or move (and you can suspend game), but does it affect game play at all?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20
I get it though. I bought a Series S about a year ago. I got a PS5 right before Christmas. I've been tempted a couple of times in the last week to pick up the Series X when I saw them available without jumping through any hoops (no membership, no All Access, no bundles), but I'm just not sure I can justify the price when I already have a PS5 backlog. The Series S isn't a bad little console when I want to play an Xbox game. One of these days, I do need to pick up a Nintendo Switch though.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a Series S to use as a Game Pass machine, or will you be gaming exclusively on the PlayStation and Switch for now? I think I counted 6 Xbox / Game Pass games on your 2021 Top 20, so I was just a little bit surprised that you were selling the Series X.

Hue was one of the free games on Playstation Plus in October 2017. It wasn't very good then and I doubt it's much better some five years later.

I need them not to announce this (and perhaps close the Gold -> Gamepass transition) for just a couple more months so I can renew on the cheap...

So I was wondering how everyone likes their Xbox Series X so far and if any have both it and PS5 that can chime in.....I'm still thinking and leaning on either getting it or a new Gaming PC but prices...mainly the Video Cards...are steering me away and looking more at the XBox. There's stuff on it that's not on PS5 (Grim Dawn) and I'm getting one or the other for Starfield period....and probably future Fallout and Elder Scrolls.....and seems like finding one is a bit easier now correct?

To be honest, it gets used as a media player the most. Plex and Netflix and such.
As for games, my plays Stardew Valley and Phantasy Star Online and we play a co-op tower defense game called Kingdom. On the One S the later levels of Kingdom would bog down because of the number of enemy sprites it was handling but the series X doesn’t even blink at them.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20
I have both the PS5 and Series X, and there isn’t a clear standout to me.
In theory, the Series X should easily win for me; I greatly prefer the interface/ecosystem, I prefer achievements to trophies, I find the Series controller more comfortable than the DualSense, there are all sorts of niceties I appreciate (like Auto HDR and rendering some OG/360 titles in 4K), it’s slightly more powerful than the PS5, and GamePass.
But even though I actively dislike the PS5 UI, the battery life for the DualSense is wretched, too few games make compelling use of the haptics, my hands ache after long play sessions, Sony is less ambitious and slower to roll out new features, yadda yadda, it currently has a distinct advantage in exclusives (in terms of first party, timed exclusives, and Japanese games that just don’t get ported to the Xbox). That could change at some point with all of Microsoft’s acquisitions, as you note about Starfield.
Plus the PS5 feels like a new console, while the Series X is more “same as before, only better” (which admittedly does have more than its share of advantages).
The boring answer is that no matter which console you get, I’m sure you’d be very happy with the end result (if occasionally with an “awww, man!” grass-is-greener moment).
I don’t take advantage of GamePass as much as I should, but that’s probably the key differentiator.
