I tried the entire minute. Kept adding to cart and nothing would add. Then…Sorry!

I tried on my phone and got this little beauty over and over again.

You want S or X? S pretty good on Amazon 3rd party. Like $340 isn’t it $300 MSRP retail?

ok, so little when wait, but you got one! Do you really need disc drive?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Series S are available everywhere, all the time. They're in stock at Best Buy and Costco as well.

Series S isn't really a next-gen console. I see no point in buying it. Neither do most other people, judging by their availability everywhere.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Oh. I thought same, but disc less and less space. Sorry. Just trying to help. My bad. Won’t happen again.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

The PS5 has a disc and discless version, both of equal power, for $100 less. The Series S is kind of a half-way to the next generation console, won't output in 4K, and is $200 less than the Series X.

Folks on Twitter says they give a two month estimate but it always ships and arrives within a week! :fc:

Ok. I didn’t know. I no longer care. Enjoy, whenever.

No problem. It was just frustrating AF searching literally everywhere for a Series X and only finding Series S.
Appreciate you trying to help. And it looks like the search is finally over.

Congratulations on finally getting one. Yeah you will get it quick. I remember mine had a sort of goofy shipping date and then it showed up like 2 days later.

Did you guys buy the extra storage? Seems like it would be useful but $220 for 1 TB? Ouch, so pricey.

I imagine I will just make do with a few games on the system like I do with the PS5 (which doesn't have the extra storage yet - they're beta testing the OS now). Maybe it will see a sale of that Seagate HDD for Black Friday?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I've seen it down to $189 a handful of times. Black Friday is a good bet for that or lower, I think.
edit: I lied. $186.99 on Newegg two weeks ago. It's bound to happen again.

I did and do find it useful, but it is freaking pricey. I think I got for $190. One can really only hold like 10 or so X/S optimized games. I just find it handy in case I want to jump to it and don’t want to transfer back and forth. I only play one game at time, so kinda useless, but as I said convenient.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah as it will be my secondary gaming system anyways I will just wait for BF. Thanks.

How huge a file is Flight Simulator?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Oh and one more thing : Can you still play X1 games from an external HDD on the XSX? I assume so, as you can do the equivalent on the PS5.

Dan 08-13-21 07:51 PM

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

^ absolutely.

I think Flight Sim is like eleventy-billion bytes.
Something like 110GB... plus add-ons!

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I didn't. I don't think I need it yet. I did buy a Seagate external drive, I think 4tb. I put everything there unless the box says "this game needs to go on internal". By the time I really need one they'll probably be a bit cheaper. My internal is not 50% full yet and I download stuff almost at random. I don't really notice much difference based on where it's playing from.

I see them in GameStop all the time now.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

do games that are not optimized, older XO games play any better on XBSX? faster or anything in terms of loads? i have Darksiders in and there are no loads or waits or anything. that could, of course, be how it was always on XO, but just wondering if having a regular game on SSD has any effect. thx.

Decker 08-14-21 10:58 AM

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

They are definitely going to load much faster when played off an SSD. That said, for the premium of SSD space, I happily trade off longer load times in last gen games in order to have room for my next gen games which all require the SSD.
At least on the PS5, “optimized” PS4 games look and play much better on a PS5 even when played from an external HDD.

OldBoy 08-14-21 11:07 AM

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

^ gotcha. i thought there might be an extra kick and the old files seems so small compared to the newer, so it's not a big deal having one or two on the SSD until i finish.
