Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Of the 40+ demos as part of this week’s event, which ones have you all downloaded and enjoyed?

We’ve given Lake, Lawn Mower Simulator , Trigger Witch, and Sable a try so far. I’ll definitely be picking up Lake for my wife. She just started Sable, but it’s looking intriguing.

Edit! And we just tried Tanknarok (a super-fast party game in the vein of Battle or whatever it was called on the Intellivision), Teacup (which my wife wants for sure), and Catlateral Damage (which is more fun as a concept than in this little bite-sized demo).

Lake is super buggy, but I love it. I'll pick that one up for sure.

I certainly wouldn't mind if there were less pop-in by the time it's released!

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I changed a few settings in the game before starting it, and it wouldn't go past the initial shot of the old computer screen, no matter what I pressed. Only thing I could do was skip the intro, but then that takes you to the outside of the post office, so I had no idea what had happened. I went back and reset the settings to default and it worked ok after that.
Game is a bit janky, but I dig it. Funny, I think it even said it was optimized for Series X...

seriously? What’s the big deal? The recent posts are about “game announcements” from E3 or whatever. I asked about a game that very well could have been talked about or shown and wanted thoughts and answer from people here who were currently discussing “game announcements”, which is what I asked about…a specific “game announcement” since ^^^ up above people are talking about “game announcements” here and in other stickied thread. Didn’t think bumping the Infinite thread since I haven’t seen it in forever on 1st pg was necessary, so I asked about a “game announcement” here in this thread since ^^^ people are talking about “game announcements”. See above. Get it. So what?

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Anyone have opinions on the Series S? I'm thinking of getting one. But I'm concerned that it won't be able to keep up with future AAA titles. I'm not bothered by the lower resolution. But I don't want to be lagging or playing gimped versions a year or two from now.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

We bought the S last generation and it's generally okay, but one of our favorite games is Kingdom: Two Crowns, a couch co-op game and in the later stages it's having to do a lot of character calculations and it bogs down (when we play on our PC, it doesn't have any trouble with it).

Like I noted above, we just ordered the Series X for both the disc drive and because I want the higher performance.

Oh, thought of something else, we are planning on keeping our One S for another room, I googled and it said we should be able to have our Xbox account on both machines, does anybody else have experience doing this?

It works similar to other consoles.

You designate one as your "home" console. Every profile has access to Live and your Gold subscription, etc.
You can login to your account in another console and play everything from that profile only.
You cannot play on the same profile on two devices at the same time, so you play whatever you want as your profile on the non home console and someone can log into their account on the home console but have access to all games. I don't remember what happens if you try to play the same game but I think it works.

The one caveat (I think) is if you have an Xbox 360, when you log onto that it logs everyone else out.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Thanks, we'll mess around when it gets here Saturday and see how it goes.

I'm definitely interested in putting one of them in the living room to play my 4K UHD discs.

Yes, I have the Series X in the living room and moved the Xbox One to the bedroom.

Our One S has been the bedroom machine, we might move it to the living room and have the Series X in the bedroom.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

How do you actually do quick resume? Everyone, I have to go into another game, it goes back to Home Screen, have to load game. Takes few seconds of course. I thought it meant you start up without all that. The spot where you just saved and quit while in game. Go to that exact point, in and out of different games bypassing everything…

While the game is currently playing, go into rest mode or fire up a different game. Afterwards, you can return to your previous game by either accessing it normally or using the Quick Resume dropdown (the same place as your pinned items).

If you’re actually quitting the game, Quick Resume doesn’t factor in.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

How do I go in rest mode? I see the right facing triangle and quick resume at top of X/S games, but I don’t know how to access. Doesn’t pausing a game for long period of time hurt the game or something? That’s why I always quit, go to main menu and then Xbox Home Screen. Can I just pause or how do I keep it suspended, I guess for long period of time, without corrupting game file or something?

It won’t hurt it but it’ll mess with your playtime. Don’t try a speed run on RE or whatnot and then leave it.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Has anyone encountered this issue before? EA Play Hub will play and let me choose games on the XBox One, but when why I try it on the Series X, I get an error screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still no dice.

I just hold the gem on the controller, press up, and press A. It's so reflexive that sometimes I don't even have the TV on when I do it , so I don't remember how things are labeled. You need to have your Xbox setup to do 'instant on' to go into rest mode, although I think Quick Resume will still work if you completely power off or even reset the console.
