I read that Japan is Xbox's fastest growing market this time around. My immediate thought was, "Yeah, that's what happens when you go from selling 1 console per year to 20!

First unboxing. Look at those boxes inside of boxes!
EDIT: Oh, this video is from Sep 10, and it looks like it's the dummy units. oops.

Controller & expansion card. Look how controlly and cardy they are!
EDIT: THIS one is new though.

Gotta say that is not an exciting controller. Usually I can't wait to get my hands on the next gen controllers, but that is the current gen with the Elite D pad added and the PS4 Share button. There is something to be said for familiarity but I am more interested in the cool futuristic PS5 controller.

That circular stand on the side of the horizontal X-box still bugs me. And 99% of the pictures you'll see in horizontal mode are from the other side.

Yeah, I don't love the look of that controller either. Glad I have my Elite 2 controller to use instead

But Sony's controller still doesn't have offset analogs, so...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Okay, I have been through this many, many times, but I will mention it again : Your hands are symmetrical, so why would it be a problem with the sticks on a joystick also being symmetrical? I am very comfortable with the Xbox One Controller, but I am at least as comfortable with the PS4 controller. I never really understood the "but the thumbsticks aren't offset" complaint. And how often are you even using the right thumbstick (outside of playing a twin-stick shooter)?
Admittedly I have smallish hands, maybe it's a bigger issues for those with large mitts?

I think it's because most controllers from the NES era on had a thumbpad on the left and buttons on the same level on the right. The playstation dualshock has this also but slowly the left analog stick became the dominant method of control over the dpad. But I dunno, I don't play that many first person shooters where I assume the majority of people get the most usage of both dpads at a time from.

But yeah, I don't care either way. The more annoying thing to me is the switching of button order from Japan to US (or Nintendo to American PS/Xbox)

^ I guess Nintendo named their buttons first, but I was used to the Xbox controllers and to this day I am pressing the wrong button every time when prompted on a Switch game.

It's not just the button names. For whatever reason, in Japan the rightmost button is the confirm button and the bottom button is the "cancel" button, and that got reversed somewhere along the line (probably by Sony). If you play an import Sony game, the buttons are usually reversed of what you expect too.

I was just making a snarky comment since it seems to be a point of contention. I do like the feel of offset sticks better, personally, though. I can't explain why... but it just feels good/right. I can handle both, though the difference in "X" position for either controller is more annoying to me.

I don't get it either. I go back and forth between the two types of controllers all the time and it doesn't even register in my mind that there is even a difference. Both feel perfectly fine and natural.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Just got an email from Amazon that Series X may not show up on launch day. They don't say when. That is annoying.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

This is the exact same email everyone that ordered a PS5 got from them too. Hopefully this is just something to cover their bases, but to my knowledge they sent it out to everyone.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I bet it's a corporate CYA email in case shipments get delayed, so they don't owe you anything.

I knew it was too good to be true. Probably their way of avoiding cancellation emails.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Perhaps arrogantly, I’m taking that as just a CYA email from Amazon that went to everyone, and that there’s still a strong chance I’ll have my console at launch.

But if not, I’ll try to find the strength to soldier on.
