I remember wanting a faceplate, but they never made one that was remotely appealing. I think I got a Gears freebie at some point I may have used briefly, but that was it. Then I got the slim and then it didn't matter.

Target does have the 3D wireless headsets in stock... not sure if they're still tough to come by.

Yep, total BS. A lot of info here at AVS about it.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I have a Sony 900h. Ports 3&4 are 2.1 port 3 is the arc. I have my tv connected to my receiver through an optical cable, so I’m used to not getting the most out of my sound quality.
Even after switching cables and ports I still had to play with a lot of settings and combinations to get it to work. Even now I’m not convinced everything is correct.
After work I’m going to pick up Hitman and see how it looks and play with some settings.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I had no idea people were having issues with the setup. Only annoyance I had was the auto on with the TV which Sony defaulted to On for some reason. I don't recall having to do anything other than initial setup to get 4K HDR working correctly.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I'm having a bunch of issues staying connected to the 5ghz wifi signal in the house. Other misc devices remain connected with no interruption, but PS5 will disconnect from the internet while still holding onto the signal from the router, and will then drop the signal entirely. The 2.4 channel is fairly stable, but it's also what most other devices in the house are connected to, so it's not ideal. And the PS5 is maybe 20ft from the router itself, so the signal is always pretty strong in the office.
I'm thinking of running cable from the router into the office, but I refuse to string it across the floor, so it'd have to be run in the wall, into the attic, and dropped back in wall in the office.

It seems like it largely depends on what your TV can handle plus whether or not you're going through a receiver. If you're not going through a receiver (or if you're going directly to the TV then optical out from tv to receiver and not caring about the downgrade in sound quality) or you have a newer TV that can handle the PS5's native resolution, you probably have no issue.

As an aside, how is the psn shop still such hot garbage even (or especially) on a browser? Geez. Like I want to give you money, Sony.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I had a new hiccup today. My sound totally dropped out on my ps5. Nothing on my receiver, tv or headset. I restarted my ps5 twice, restarted my receiver, turned off my tv a couple times and unplugged hdmi the cable. I also did a hard reset of my tv then the sound came back.
I’m not entirely sure if is was the reboot of the tv or the hdmi cable. Guess I’ll narrow it down when it happens again.

IMO the PSN shop website is much worse and harder to navigate after the most recent "upgrade"
And it wasn't that good to begin with.

Yeah, it's terrible now. You can't even click on a game page and see the DLC available for it any more. How did anyone consider this a good idea?

I'm in the same boat: one TV that is 1080p (plus 3d, which is the main reason it's hanging around) with non 4k receiver, the other a smaller 4k tv but no receiver. But it sucks that for those with a 4k receiver and TV, unless you have the absolutely latest and greatest it seems like you have problems.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
the first time you use an HDR device in your setup its always a pain getting the ports & cables right. I had no problems just replacing the PS5 into my PS4 Pro port. I suspect most people having trouble are doing it for the first time? Spent hours with both of my TV's getting the ports, cables, and software proper to display HDR.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I realize that there are potential cable issues if you are using old HDMI cables and such. But the problems specified in the avsforums post seems to indicate that the PS5 will either do 4k (non HDR) or 1080p HDR, but not 4k HDR. Some say it's because it's outputting 4k HDR 120Hz and receivers can only handle 60Hz. But that thread is deep and I haven't really delved into it because it's not like it applies to me (yet).
So redbill and others, does your PS5 output 4k HDR through your receiver?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
yes, no problems at all - PS5 -> Denon -> Projector (HDR icon flashes and Resolution is output as confirmation - both applied by the PJ). But I relate to the struggle, I went through it greatly when getting my ps4 Pro. took a while for me to get it working. But ps5 was plug&play, thanks to the troubleshooting I had done with PS4Pro (and FireBox).
