Good call. I was checking their site early on for pre-orders (no luck) and forgot all about them since.

Looks like their allocation goes live at midnight tonight.

Showed sold out in about .03 seconds, so the time it takes to refresh the page. I kept hitting refresh for the next few minutes bc thats what has been suggested by people. A minute or two later it changed back to 'in stock' and I managed to get one in my cart. When I got to the next checkout screen ... refreshed back and forth between in stock and out of stock . It would not let me check out at all and eventually WM removed the item from my cart which pissed me off bc I would have been one step closer next time. Shit show.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Just an update of my situation. Still can't play PS5 versions of Watch Dogs Legions or Miles Morales at all. WD crashes in literally seconds. MM crashes enough to make it impossible to make any progress. It's been so frustrating for me. My PS5 still plays Astro's Playroom, PS5 games Sackboy's Big Adventure and Bugsnax without crashing. It also works fine with all PS4 games I've tried. But it's hardly a next gen console if it can't play real next gen games.
I have been calling Sony's CS number (800) 345- SONY daily. They hadn't answered their phones since launch but did yesterday. I spoke to a rep. She asked me for the error code. I didn't have it but put in WD and gave it to her 30 seconds later She said this was a "known issue" with the console. She suggested I could try a full system reset if I wanted to but it might not help or wait for them to come out with a fix. She didn't recommend sending the unit in for service. So I am stuck trying to decide between buying my son a PS Plus membership to back up his game saves and wiping the system vs just waiting a little longer. Still don't know what I should do. It really bums me out.

I vote reset. You've had enough complaints about it, and it's obviously very frustrating, might as well get that option off the table.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

That totally sucks, Decker. I really think they should be expediting a replacement console, all things considered.
i knew you don't want to do the PS+ thing, but that's probably the way to go before doing the reset. The fact that you can't even transfer the save file via USB is ridiculous.

What game was it that he had a save file with?

Took your advice. Bought my son a year of PlayStation Plus. Uploaded all of his saves on the PS5. Did a full reset. Re-downloaded the game saves and apps and Astroís Playroom. Reinstalled Miles Morales.
It still crashes. Donít know what to do next. Sucks.

They have a virtual queue which is a good sign. The friend that wants the console joined the queue around 11pm. He's 74,000. Another friend hopped into the queue just now, and it's up to 135k.

Damn dude, that does really suck. And "wait for an update" is a hard pill to swallow, as that can be just a blow-off. Ugh.

So you're saying there's a chance?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Nope. Not a chance at all. Another friend hopped into the queue around 11:30 and was around 250k in line. I doubt Meijer of all places would be getting a quarter of a million consoles. That's roughly 1,000 consoles per store.

The site completely crashed at midnight. There was a backdoor link to the PS5 though which worked but it said come back at 12:15 to buy! Everyone hops on at 12:15 and there's a new note says come back at 12:25. Nope. Come back at 12:45. Nope. Come back at 1am! Nope. Come back at 1:15!

Not exaggerating. That's how it went. We all threw in the towel at 1:15.... so that's probably when it finally worked.

Sony needs to be sending you a new one. I would keep calling and putting the pressure on them until they do.

I thought I read about people on the PS5 reddit forum getting replacement consoles already for their broken ones. It was a really fast turn around too.

Theyíre not doing that for me, at least not yet. I told them what I have done already and theyíre suggesting I reboot the system again, this time with a USB stick for the system software. Itís ridiculous. The guy today suggested that I retry WD Legions because sometimes Miles Morales is still crashing with that error after the 11/25 system update. Itís a lot of data, but whatever I am downloading WD again. If/when it crashes I will call them back. Shouldnít be long now...

...And there is literally NOTHING they can do. They say itís a software error and not a hardware issue and that they wonít repair or replace the system. This error CE-108255-1 is happening to a small number of PS5 owners and apparently they are aware of it and are trying to fix it. In the meantime I am stuck without a solution and with no way to Play Miles Morales. I guess I can play WD Legions PS4 version for now. Might go ahead and open my copy of AC Valhalla just for kicks to see if by any miracle it works.
This is so frustrating!

That dismal level of customer service is completely unacceptable. I wonder if you keep calling back if you might reach someone who'd be more helpful. I'm seeing some people on Twitter and other gaming forums report that they've eventually been able to line up replacements.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Decker's situation is total bullshit on Sony's part. There should be no question about just replacing the damn thing. Pretty pathetic customer service, but I'd keep persisting and asking them to escalate. I really hope it pans out.

Decker, have you tried the social media aspect? Post the issue directly @ Sony. Many times companies will bend over backwards to fix those problems because they are the most visible.

I would try both avenues, though.

That's bullcrap! I would call them ever chance you get until someone realizes you are not going away until they send you a new one.

Yes. On Twitter to @AskPlayStation. They just say they have sent you a DM. The DM tells you to contact Support.

Ok. Maybe contact some video game writers on twitter with some clout and tell them you are getting the run around? Seems like this happens at every launch. I recall there being issues with both previous generations and getting replacements.

So with stores limiting inventory, scalpers using bots taking all the online orders, and stores enforcing social distancing so there's limited consoles to pick up in person a fair estimate of availability will be mid 2021?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

My Best Buy order from last Sunday morning is "delayed". Looks like it's happening to a lot of other people as well. They said in the email that if they can't get it by 12/4, they will cancel the order. It seems to be a legitimate shipping delay and not an oversold situation, but we'll see.

Installed AC Valhalla and what do you know, it works perfectly. No crashes. So it can run a graphics heavy PS5 game. So weird.
I tried a ďsolution ď that is being posted online : Turning off the internet connection when you launch a new game. Miles still crashes after that. I guess I just have to wait for a patch solution. In the meantime I hope I start liking Valhalla more than I currently do l.
