Looks like PS4 games need a patch to be playable on PS5. Might not happen for PT.

No HBO Max, which is kind of a drag. It's the only app I currently have to use a video game controller for, so I was hoping it'd be on the PS5 and that I could use the media remote.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I've been trying to find a place to pre order the media remote but it looks like they're either closed or all sold out. Pre orders on eBay are selling for a premium. Hoping I can find one at launch.

As I write this, anyway, preorders are back up at Target. And you'll get it next week too!

Thanks! Not sure if I checked Target when I was going through the normal sites.

When you mentioned HBO Max, did you mean the app won't be on PS5 or just that the remote doesn't have a direct button to it?

I just realized I have no idea if my harmony hub is going to have compatibility with this...

I have a hub as well and I'm planning on it not working.

HBO Max isn't listed under New media experience and top entertainment streaming apps coming to PS5 that Sony posted this morning, so I'm assuming it's not available at all at launch. It sounds like they're taking a different approach with media apps (no downloading individual apps from the store) than they are with the PS4. But I don't know if you can still download the PS4 app and use it like BC on the PS5.

Same here. I don't love the remote or those dedicated buttons. Be nice to be able to choose which media those buttons were assigned to, but oh well.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'm hoping to find one of the headsets between now and launch. I didn't realize they could be used with a PC as well, or I would've preordered when I had the chance.

Yeah, they work with pretty much everything! I've even been using Sony's PS4-era Gold headset for my Xbox One.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Iím sure itís discussed and Iím sorry if bringing up again which it probably is two posts above (which it isnít), but what are main differences in systems, speeds of Series X compared to PS5?

Same price, I assume, but whatís difference in specs? Can 5 let you pause and immediately start right back up up to 5 games at once. And 5 has games that will have similar ultra fast load times as X optimized games, Control for one?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

It's been reported games load ridiculously fast. Other than that everything is a fucking mystery. Sony's keeping everything in the dark.

There has been zero word of multiple game suspends. IIRC it was something they planned with the PS4 and was discussed at E3, but never came to fruition because the hardware just couldn't handle it. So it'd be hard to believe that they'd abandon that concept altogether.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

WIth load times all but eliminated thanks to the ssdís, is there any real benefit to suspending 5 games at once? Seems like a weird feature to focus on.

playing any game you feel at a moments notice at the exact same spot you left off without opening the game time, load save times, etc. Even if just seconds shaved off. This just instant. Just play something different if you feel at instant notice.

They aren't eliminated. They are just less.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Even with minimal load times you'd still have multiple company logo screens and the menu to get through each time you boot up a game before getting to your save point. Multiple suspends eliminates that.

I wonder why they are calling them face plates instead of side plates... or more accurately, side panels.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I rarely play more than one game at a time, I will play a game until I'm done with it, and then movie on to the next one.

The multiple suspends would be great if it works across different accounts though. I always suspend the game, but at least half of the time I will have to start over from the start screen anyway because the kids have been playing something while I was at work on their own accounts and it boots me out of my game.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

So I saw these 4k titles getting another release by Sony to go along with the PS5 launch and it appears all they have are slipcovers saying "4k movie essentials". Does anyone think they offer anything different? They seem to be twice the price of their original 4k releases just for the slipcover.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Well they have the info from the manufacturer as
The perfect 4K movies to pair with your PlayStation5! Bring home these 11 blockbuster megahits and fan favorites on 4K Ultra HD disc and watch them on the PlayStation5, now with all-new limited edition slipcovers to commemorate the console’s launch! The best way to watch your movies at home in 4K!"

So I guess that is it, and since it is a pre-order, the price will be higher.
