This is totally random but - I wasnít being charged tax for PS Store purchases until I recently changed my credit card (theyíre both from the same state with sales tax). After noticing this, I read that they introduced tax a while back, so I guess I was skating through for a bit.

Shouldn't this basically guarantee that everyone who got in on the last batch of Amazon pre-orders should get theirs fulfilled? If not, there is definitely something wrong with this process.

Same. Launch titles just don't typically hold up*. I'm in for Spider-man and that's probably it until Ratchet & Clank comes out. Of course there could be some surprise indy type downloadable games worth checking out.

*as I just played Resogun earlier today. Still one of the best games on the PS4.

Sounds like it's time to close that Amazon browser tab. At this point I'd check Amazon off the list of places to try and get a pre-order from going forward.

Not the preferred way to go but a website called AntOnline has a launch bundle available at the moment. Disc version + controller + Miles Morales + Demons Souls + Destruction All Stars for $779. Apparently theyíre a good site and donít charge sales tax.

I would be a little nervous ordering from that site. How reputable are they and how easy do they make it to cancel? Do they charge you the full amount up front? Those are my main concerns. Plus, you are spending almost 300 more on forced extras and games that you might not want.

I was actually going to pull the trigger on their bundle but they are now all sold out.

..I've dealt with Antonline in the past...they've been around a long time....mostly known for Electronic and Computer parts and stuff. They're out of Atlanta.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Heads-up folks : CD Keys is currently selling a 12 Mo subscription for PS Plus for $31.79, a 47% discount on the current price of $59.99. The code comes instantly. Most of us suspect the rate for PS Plus is going to go up soon after the PS5 launch with the new Game Pass - type features in the PS5. I would say it's time to stock up, there doesn't seem to be a 3-year cap on subscriptions like there is for the Xbox. I would hang onto the renewal email from Sony just in case, as it shows your new renewal date.
I'm good until halfway through 2025 now.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Thanks Decker! Finally subbed!
When I input the code, it said the renewal price in 12 months would be $69.99, so yeah. Good to get this now.

if there's seriously no maximum, I might do 8 years worth. Get me right up until PS6!

Oh right yup! But using a "USA" PS+ code seems to work so whatevs.

Orders three then redeemed them. All good.
Fourth order isn't giving me a code though. Says "under review" on CDKeys site. Hmm.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

It just occurred to me that we haven't heard any confirmation of free PS5 games with PS Plus. I hope the library of PS4 games (all that I already own, BTW) doesn't stop the free games from coming.

They increased it a little bit. I just got a year a couple of days ago for $28 and some change via slick deals and CD KEYS was the vendor. I have a buddy ho bought a couple and he's PS Plus stacked until 2024.

That is an excellent observation, and I hadn't thought of that either. Even though we did get Resogun and Contrast with the PS4 launch, I wonder if they'll coast on backwards compatibility and say "plays better on your new PS5!" or somethin'. Fingers crossed for Bugsnax! At least we know we get that built-in Astro game.

There are a staggering number of unanswered questions at the moment.

Same here, that's whet I tagged on 1 more year. Of course, things could change when the PS5 arrives, but these subs have had deals somewhat frequently. Like you say, just watch the SD site (or add a SD site notification alert).

The first 6-9 months were all indie type games, IIRC. I'd imagine they'll go a similar route with PS5.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I don't know why pre-orders for hot items from the major vendors don't work like this:
  1. They announce the date and time pre-orders will go up
  2. They take ALL orders but place everybody in a queue and tell them where they are in that queue (e.g. "You are # 10,500 in the queue")
  3. Based on stock and when they plan to get things they give full transparency on when they expect your order to ship. (e.g. "We will be getting 10,000 units in our first shipment. As of right now we don't know when yours will ship but once we have further details we will update you"
Seems easy, straight-forward, and customer friendly. People just place their order with their favorite retailer, and sit back and wait for their turn in line.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

#2-3 would never happen(revealing numbers). Letting the competition know what you're shipping out isn't high on the priority list.

Other than that, yeah a virtual queue should be the way to go. Unfortunately after 20 years of ecommerce it's clear these companies have zero interest in fixing a broken system, especially for products that only come around once every 5-7 years. A forward thinking company would see the potential in developing a proper system with an online queue (and purchase limits) and how to implement it across their site for multiple products/launches.

I mean they still sold their product, who cares if they pissed off a couple million people who weren't able to order from their site? That's capitalism baby.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

You're right that they wouldn't want to reveal numbers, but at the very least they could do the rest. "Based on your place in line, we expect your item to ship 11/12"

They also need to put multiple checks in the process to weed out bots and give a legit buyer an alloted amount of time to checkout like they do for event tickets.
