Starting to show up on Best Buy's website again.
Still can't make it through checkout though.

Amazing that in basically 20+ years of internet shopping, nothing has changed with regard to etailers still not being able to handle this shit.

I managed to put in my cc and even do the 2-factor authentication with Visa, and still it didn't go through. Pathetic.

I was just thinking that as I’m refreshing bb. We bitch about shout or severin or vinegar syndrome not being able to handle a sale for cult movies, yet one of the biggest releases of the year crashes the biggest retailers.

So through Amazon I was able to order the system, an extra controller, Miles Morales, and Sackboy so I'm set.

Yeah, pretty pathetic for 2020. Either tell me it’s sold out or let me check out. Don’t let me put it in my cart, input payment info, choose a pickup store, see “processing your order,” only to be put back to place order 7,000 times. What a joke, Best Buy.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Now that I have locked in an Amazon preorder, the question is : should I still try to get one from Sony instead? All things being equal I would guess not; I trust Amazon delivery more. But if the Sony ones have something, anything extra (or if they don’t charge me sales tax) that would be worth getting it through them instead.

Am I still the only person here who got an email invite? I don’t know what I should do with this opportunity...

Good question. What’s the thought on those invites? Did they send them out to roughly the number of units they have set aside, or is it going to be another mass frustrating internet rush? I actually did just get the email invite.

I would put the Sony order through in the event Amazon doesn't fulfill. Its rare, but I've had them cancel or delay instock items. It's also easy to cancel the Amazon order.

I didn't get an invite and I submitted entries with my two gamer tags.

I signed up for the Sony email twice and never received one.

I also signed up for the Sony deal and didn't receive an invite :(

Wow, I caved and went to bed after BB shit the bed the first time. Guess I missed a chance.

I swung by Wal-Mart first thing this morning to check. No in-store pre-orders, online only. They don't have any marketing or pre-order info from Sony. I'm having my wife hit Target this morning, but I'm betting she sees a similar reaction.

So what exactly was exclusive about the Sony invite? I'd still keep it Decker. Rare chance but they could ship those out earlier than release.

*No dice on Target in store either. Same story. Check online.

I was able to get my system and Miles Morales ordered through Walmart when they first went live on the site. Crossing my fingers that the order actually gets fulfilled and not canceled.

I tried a few times and then gave up. Honestly, this is all on Sony IMHO. I will get a system when I can easily walk into a store and buy it. I'm tired of playing these silly games just to get a system.

To be fair this happens with pretty much every new electronic or sought after item.

I don't know if it's that they produced way less of them or what, but it does seem like the cheaper digital only edition sells out a lot faster than the disk version.

Dan 09-17-20 09:00 AM

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I think, like every other roll out, we'll see stock added every few days up until launch. There's no way everyone is 100% sold out until release day. That would be silly.
There's also people bragging about getting 5x pre-orders in, and they're more than likely going to end up canceling 4 of those (or hawking them on eBay)

But hey, if anyone wants to pass along their unused Sony invite, hit me up please! :D

I would but I can't. It's a unique Url and linked to your gamer tag and will be invalidated if you share it.

Dan 09-17-20 09:07 AM

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Ah damn :( I knew it was a unique URL, but I didn't realize it also forced validation of the gamertag. Makes sense, though.
