re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I mean, there’s just no way we don’t get date and price next week, right?

I am so curious to see how they respond to Microsoft’s Xbox price. Sony is in the position once again to undercut Xbox at launch, and I think it’d be crazy for them not to figure out a way to make that happen.

I don’t really think they need to. People are gonna buy ps5 regardless. I think $500 will be the price but won’t complain if it’s $450.

I’m in the same camp. I expect $500 and will pay that.

Most definitely. I’m on board for the all digital version (eventually). Don’t see that happening at launch.

But I think it’d be a smart move to come in lower, especially when these are side by side on store shelves. There are people who will buy someone a new console as a gift, or a gamer who only ever plays Madden or Call of Duty. That’s who they’re going after with a sub-$499 price.

But there is also the games. There will be some new PS5 exclusive games (at least the Spider-Man one) while literally everything on the XSX will also be available on the Xbox One. It may not perform as well on that system, but if you have to pick just one and have both a PS4 Pro and an Xbox One X, wouldn't you go with the one that has new exclusive games if they're the same price?

It would be amazing to see the digital version for 300 and the disc for 400. However, I think the disc one will be 500. Just let us pre-order it already.

@ZhugeEX: Bloomberg reporting that Sony has had to cut PS5 production by 4m units due to production yield issues with SoC.

Original plan was to produce 15m units by March 31, 2021. Now only 11m units may be produced due to the yield issue.

Sony is denying the bloomberg report:
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...on-by-4m-units
Update: Sony has reached out to GamesIndustry.biz with the following statement denying the Bloomberg report:

“While we do not release details related to manufacturing, the information provided by Bloomberg is false," the statement reads.

"We have not changed the production number for PlayStation 5 since the start of mass production."

I expect only a $50 difference in price. The drive isn't that expensive. The reason the XSS is so much cheaper is that it's a less powerful console. That isn't the case here.

Actually, I think a hundred dollar price difference is justified when you look at the cost of 4k players on the market. I would gladly take it for only 50. Making it a hundred difference helps to push buyers to digital, which seems to be where they want us to go.

French retailer Micromania has apparently indicated that Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Destruction All-Stars, Demon's Souls Remake and Sackboy Adventures are all Day One titles.

It might be fun, but the aesthetic seems kinda insufferable. I never got around to Wreckfest, and I wonder how this might stack up by comparison.

Same here. I might get Destruction All-Stars for my wife as a Christmas gift; she was actually pretty into it when I showed her the trailer again a minute ago. Demon's Souls is the type of game I'm glad exists and am intrigued by, but I can't really ever imagine myself playing. If I ever had that kind of patience, I sure don't now.
